Completed the game once, and even started a second play through a few months later. For me, that says a lot about a game. I rarely replay much, unless I really enjoyed it the first time through.

Haven't played 2.0 and phantom liberty yet, will update after that play through. Blame steam for needing reviews to complete challenges :P

I may change this review later, but right now I can not recommend this game.

As some has pointed out in other recommendations, it can be a slow paced game, and that isn't my problem with it. I actually don't mind the pacing at all, as it lets my "wander lust" kick in.

What has me extremely disappointed in this game, is that the fact I keep running into game breaking bugs. Especially on the main quest line so much so that progression is blocked. I'm usually a fan of 1 solid play through with out mods and quite frankly with what I've experienced so far, that isn't possible.
Some of the bugs:
* not able to enter my home ship. -- if this only happened once to just 1 ship, then I'd be less inclined to complain, but it's a reoccurring problem.
** this comes with a problem that all of your people assigned to your ship also disappear (and the ability to access their quests it seems)
* Main quests blocked multiple times
** This happened to me a couple times through the progression. Felt like I had to be a hacker (this from a dev mind you) to just progress past one bug, to only keep encountering more main quest blockers
* Temples got bugged so that the quest to go to them never went away, and the "scanner glitched" never showed up again.
* several faction quests seemed to get to a blocked point as well.

Sad thing is even with mods, it seems to just "fail", Bethesda, we've come to expect buggy games from you, but this one is one of the worst, and that's saying something after also having played fall out 76 at release :(

For now, I think I'll do with Bethesda games that I do with Ubisoft games, not by at launch and wait until first "sale" so that maybe a few rounds of bug fixes have been applied to lessen the frustration.

It's a nice looking game, but over all a poor representation of an actual "space" fairing game. Just a crazy amount of "load" screens, as you have to transition from 1 view to another constantly. Skyrim in space as some have called it, but even skyrim had fewer load screens.

Jackbox.tv seems to be broken, tried to use it, got weird error message that could not assign ethereum to #window object, which seems a bit SUS!

Be cautious on that site.

"server" started ok, but seems rather pointless if I also have to have a browser open to play.

also states that is is single player friendly, when that doesn't even seem to be an option, at least on the base game

Wow.. this was a LONG play through. I liked it. It doesn't have that AC vibe as much. But given it's more of an origins before Origins :P. Mind you I did my play through while all the DLC's were still dropping for the first batch, and will most likely be back to see the last 3. It was good to see "some" choices have cause and effect. Ships were a little "blah", but after playing black flag, and then going back several generations on ships, I guess one can't have too much expectations there. The forced actions in the first DLC's "drama" was eh.. but the over all story was pretty awesome up to that point. The crazy mythical creature fights were fun / frustrating as they probably should be, though looking back, I wish I would have had a "hunter" set for most of those, which I didn't get any of those until after I had completed em all :/ I am still one of those that liked that animus side things, which is lacking for sure here. Seems like Ubisoft has just given up on the whole side of that story line.

Wow.. I was mostly MEH about this game until the ending.

I've played all the main Far Cry games minus #2, and sadly a fan of other ubisoft games as well; AC for instance.

Little backstory. I grew up in Montana. I can relate to several of the locals that were somewhat being referenced even if they were "fictitional". Though thankfully badgers and bears were never as plentiful -- in the entire state -- as they were in "Hope County". Felt like, when Ubisoft did research, they drove alone I-90 between Butte and Missoula and up highway 200 for a bit too (I'm looking at you giant cow at a gas station). And Caribou?? In MT??

Pro's:
* graphics were awesome, all the way through.
* No big bugs that couldn't be fixed by a log out and back in.
* Some of the mission chatter was pretty funny (Rye's wife giving birth had me laughing).

Con's:
* The story, I mean really nothing good about it. The complete immersion breaking "yanking out out of anywhere for cut scene" was just a horrible idea. Felt lazy, and broken.
The ENDING .. ubisoft didn't want to come up with a good option. The ending battle, was a good progression way. But the very end, Ubisoft was going for the “let's surprise them with THIS”.. well it was not a surprise, it was a HUGE disappointment.
* you quickly become "overpowered" for 95% of the cult you encounter -- though those damn flame thrower dudes could be a bit of a challenge.

I should have stuck to my guns and waited to buy any Ubisoft game on sale, as I have been burnt before. Watch Dogs!!

It's got some fun shooter stuff, and just walking around and checking things out is nice. Flying was even mostly enjoyable.

BUT, I have buyers remorse for getting gold. I don't even know if I want to see the DLC after this.

Surprisingly a very good game. Minus a bug here or there -- wouldn't be UBISOFT if it didn't have some of those. But no major game breaking ones.

Felt a little betrayed by the last boss battle, but other than that. Great game play through. Lots of little things you pick up as you go through the game that leads to other things we've already known about the assassins. Was kind of fun finding all those "origins" :)

Thank you UBISOFT for restoring a "little" faith back into your game developement.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this game. Being Ubisoft, it has a very "familure" feel to watch dogs and far cry stuff. But I found the story fun, the "banter" chatter made me laugh on occation -- especially on the bad jokes.

graphics are pretty great.

Few glitches here and there -- getting stuck in the enviroment, or random respawn of "stuff" you already taken out. It's a good start for a "open world" but it's defintily not persistant.

THE BAD: Uplay. Being required to "be connected" when playing a single player mode is garbage. I give up good money to play a game. But get told I can't play the game, as I can't log in "that day" SCREW YOU Ubisoft.

Fix your broke ass software and back bone network before you "require" people to log in to play a game they've already payed for.

Fun exploring game, with some crafting options. Build your base early!!! :)

Played this thing off and on over the years, mostly for the expeditions right now.

I've played
Relaxed - very easy, very light core survival, great for introduction and for VR I think.
Survival mode - got the most hours in this I'd guess, things hit harder, and inventory has "max caps" stacks on things vs relaxed nearly infinite stacks -- this is the play through that has done nearly every expedition and has 1 type of nearly every "special" ship
Permadeath -- done this like 2 times. .on 2nd now, but if it dies, it'll be my last. Basically same restrictions as Survival mode, but can't make a mistake in a fight / environment and die.

it's fun and relaxing, base building can be fun when you aren't fighting the environment, ie building underground can be challenging some days

Was a fun game, better than 1, which wasn't hard to do given how much of a crap fest it was on launch.

Multiplayer was much better intertwined, not quiet "seemless" but still fun.

I enjoyed it, better story, or at least a moving forward story.

Only wish Ubisoft would get away from damn Uplay/Connect crap connection required to play on single player mode.

Also would add that I managed to play through this game multiple times, which isn't common for me. Find it relaxing in some odd ways

Early Access Review
This was a fun and addicting game. Building system is quiet good. Dino's were awsome even when you do get eaten by one. In game events were very enjoyable.

If you like achievements, this is not the game for that. Those are very frustrating unless you are in a large clan/group.
