I've recently taken the time to play through the series, and through friends letting me know what and when to expect the soft reboot of the series into more of an RPG among other departures from the previous games. I was tense jumping into this new direction. But honestly this has become one of my favorite games in the series so far. I'm excited to see Odyssey next.

If you want breakdowns of what to expect via story or mechanics there are plenty of those reviews. For me this review I leave is for any patient players who, like me, are coming into the series years after their releases. Going from Assassin's Creed 1 to this game I can say the amount of time spent playing on my own pace has tempered my expectations and allowed me to really dive into this game.

Take some time to read the texts you come across, learn about Egyptian mythology and history on and off the game to give yourself context for NPC behaviors, and play the game with a minimal or altered hud, and it will pull you in.
