There is a fine line between consideration and hesitation - the former is wisdom. The latter is fear.

Do consider buying this game <3

A very approachable survival game. Simple mechanics, yet tons of stuff to do. Group up with friends or take on the world alone, both are fun.

New technologies/recipes are learned when you pick up items that are required for crafting them, which creates a natural progression in the game that scales with the player interaction with the world. You're not stuck behind a tutorial gate, nor thrown to the lions on the first day.

A nice mix of casual base-building with elements of survival either when the base is attacked, or when going on an adventure to secure more raw materials.

The biggest drawback for me at the moment is the fact that progression in the game results in tougher attacks on the bases. This makes it difficult to play on a server where some people are casually farming copper and tin, and others are chain-running blast furnaces with black metal. The progression of the players furthest in the "storyline" will dictate the difficulty of base attacks for everyone. This can be a disheartening experience for the casual gamer who logs on to check on the carrots in the garden, only to have their small wooden farmhouse obliterated by Surtlings throwing fireballs.

*EDIT* This biggest drawback has now been addressed with new server settings

Absolutely worth the price tag. Already at the initial release state I would consider the game fun and rich enough to warrant a €50 price tag, yet it still sells for less than €20.

An absolute delight to play.
The product chain and conveyor belt management is a bit like Factorio Ultra Light, which suits me just perfect.

Unless you're one of the people who abhor platform games, this is a title you don't want to miss. Beautifully crafted, an intuitive skill and control system and music to wrap everything into a complete package that takes you on a wonderful journey.

The best platformer I remember playing since Another World. Beautifully crafted and stimulating audio and visuals. It plays well, and there's a good mix of action and jumping puzzles. A simple yet interesting talent tree keeps you looking for those yellow power-ups, and the skills available are also unlocked at a steady pace.

While the game may be somewhat linear, it doesn't really feel that way. You can always walk back to the very place you started off - perhaps to get those upgrade orbs you weren't able to get to initially.

It works very well with keyboard and mouse. I'm sure a controller would be fine too, but it's nice that you don't feel gimped when playing a platformer on a PC in 2015.

"Brand New Interface".

Right.

It looks almost exactly like every other Cities (X)XL game I've played before. Every time I upgrade to their new version thinking "this one will be different".

Never again.

Disappointed to see that it doesn't include the two expansions. I hope they will be added later on, but until then, I'll stick with my GOG-version.

Still, a recommended game. The best HoMM so far.
