This is a very well-made, well-rounded game. The RPG elements, item collecting/crafting/fusing mechanics, hack-n-slashing, storylines, overall theme and messages delivered to the player, everything blends together seamlessly. There are a couple graphical issues here and there, but nothing that distracts too harshly from gameplay anyways. NieR:Automata is a solid work of art, if not a masterpiece.

It has been a tough time for the Sonic fan this past decade, as a lot of games have been hit or miss within this franchise. Working with Christian Whitehead was a pro strat for the Sonic Team, as this game looks and plays beautifully. I hope they can find that balance of exhilaration/speed with challenging platforming/bosses, etc, when it comes to the 3D games. There's only so long that this franchise can hope to tap into nostalgia, again and again...

I really love this game. The eerie atmosphere, running around on a massive ship, trying to fend for your life, not knowing what's behind the next corner, your heart pounding louder and louder with each step, it's all a massive rush for one to play System Shock 2, and just when you think you understand what's going on, the plot thickens, and you truly understand just how insignifcant you are, human...

This... is a beautiful game.

I've always been a sucker for games that combine art and gameplay flawlessly, and this game does just that. It gives you the simple concept of holding down any button on your keyboard to run, releasing to jump, and then holding again while in midair to land quicker. Yet, it would be an injustice to say that the entire game is just that. It is fun. There is no doubt about this. The music is well-done, and the visuals... man, the smooth transitions and flowing vectors, sometimes sharp, sometimes haphazard, sometimes smooth, sometimes... anything. You have to experience it for yourself, y'know?

You'd like this game if you:

-like a challenge
-like running up to 140 mph, because we all know you can't do that irl :(
-like minimalism/abstract art

At 10 bucks, I think it's a steal. Play it and you'll understand. Play it more, and you'll get better, you'll master control over your own body, and tame physics itself.

I'm off to play multiplayer...

This game is gorgeous. It is gorgeous in its gameplay and most definitely in its graphics.

I have a mediocre laptop, so I'm surprised I could run such a detailed and vibrant game.

You're a small futuristic ship I guess, and you have the standard attacks you'd find in any side-scrolling bullet hell (well, not THAT many bullets, but still) shooter, like a normal dual laser shot, a bigger laser, an EMP, and a freakin' Overdrive that I still don't understand what it does b/c I didn't bother to read the manual (it's in the main menu after you finish configuring, choosing a name, and achieving the first achievement just for buying the game, sweet!).

basically they let you change bullets into points and increase your multiplier so you can have like billions of points OH BOY

The rotation mechanism is very interesting. What you see on your screen is not always the whole picture. There's enemies in the background, as well as ZOMG HUGE ASTEROIDS AND SPACE JUNK (and other crates that can help your ship but those aren't too frequent). So, how do you destroy these things if you can't see them at present? You rotate thorugh your 360 degree field of view, of course! That way, even though you're looking at your ship and the approaching enemies from the side, you can also blast background objects and enemies away, whether they're above or below you! It's a fascinating concept that really sets this game apart and makes it that much more enjoyable.

You really should get this game if you enjoy a challenge. It is a challenge, honestly. Not that you'll die all the time, of course. But y'know, you could just have rotated through the 3D space to avoid that humongous helicopter's laser.

Okay, whatever, just get the game already, it's breathtaking! No joke!
