Game deleted my save file twice, resetting all of my progress. Waste of time.

I tentatively recommend this though I have no idea if you'll like it if you didn't fall in love with the original when it first came out.

This is a solid remaster in that it greatly improves the graphics, rounds off some of the sharp edges, but otherwise retains the full jank and questionable game design of the original. It still has the weird auto-scaling where the whole world levels up to match your character. The UI still blows when it comes to inventory/spell management and crafting. The NPC interactions are uncanny at best and the quests are often buggy. The combat is at its best when you're one-shotting everyone from the shadows and is otherwise a clumsy slugfest.

But somehow it's still a blast to play. Exploring is still exciting, there are just enough clever quests to keep you interested (despite most of them being surprisingly bland), and the world is still gorgeous and fun to just be in.

The performance is... not great. Even on a pretty high end PC you'll experience pop-in, stuttering, and hard crashes. The crashes have gotten slightly less frequent with recent patches. It works great on Linux too, which was a pleasant surprise. It can even work on Steam Deck! You'll be getting 30 FPS at pretty low settings, but it still manages to look great thanks to the lighting and world design.

A fantastic game that basically lets you play out Die Hard in a bunch of short, wacky, puzzle-like scenarios. There's a joy in lurking in the shadows formulating a plan, springing into action, that plan going wrong, then frantically trying to make the best of it.

The humor and creativity of Blendo is on full display. Not only in the writing, but in the level design and game mechanics too. You want to keep playing just to see what it will throw at you next.

Great DLC. The difficulty was just right, though this one is pretty short and doesn't drive the overall story forward very much.

Solid continuation of the story. The puzzles in this one are both more straightforward and more subtle. They present you with pretty clear scenes but then ask you to figure out specific details that rely on piecing together subtle cues. Very satisfying.

Pretty good as a parody game. Very short and pretty funny in parts but (just like The Witness) some of the puzzles are a bit obnoxious.

There are a few good puzzles that were fun to solve. Other than that, I really did not enjoy this game.

Most of the puzzles don't fit into the larger story and thus feel contrived. In fact, many of the clues in game are only relevant to any entirely separate ARG-like puzzle that is entirely arbitrary and optional. The combat is largely annoying and is only enjoyable in the few cases where there are puzzle mechanics that let you avoid it. A huge amount of the content in the game is just flavor for the world and characters (most photographs and notes have no importance to the puzzles nor story). Unfortunately the characters and world are uninteresting and the story is both nonsensical and poorly told. A lot of the dialog is downright cringe worthy, like an anime melodrama, not helped at all by the over-the-top voice acting.

And what is absolutely unforgivable is that this puzzle game ends with an extremely difficult parry-based boss fight (a mechanic which is never introduced anywhere in the game). Losing this fight results in an unskippable 2 minute sequence before you can try again. After failing this a few times, I gave up and watched the ending on YouTube, which was just as disappointing as I expected given the poor quality of the rest of the story.

This game has a very clear vision, and that vision is very fully realized, which I do respect. But ultimately there is just too much poor execution to overlook.

A fascinating murder mystery. Get ready to learn a lot about 1500s Bavaria and the Holy Roman Empire.

The puzzle/detective aspect is pretty light. The focus is more on role playing and seeing how your choices impact the story and characters. But the story and themes were still very interesting.

Excellent parry-based combat with satisfying skills to unlock and challenging bosses. It has just enough complexity to not overwhelm you while still providing enough challenge to encourage using every tool available to you.

Great game if you love minesweeper or hexcells. Works perfectly on Steam Deck. Not sure why it isn't verified.
