Note: I've been a part of a backer program because I couldn't wait for the game to be released. So tl;dr: the OG Windward was great and this game is too!

Good things:
- The battle part of the game is awesome, especially if you play with friends or in a server. This is the core of the game - the stuff you do the most
- Multiple different builds for different playstyle, you can ram ships, heal people, snipe from afar, shoot heavy bullet or do some aoe shenanigans. The game allows you to reset builds so you're not stucked with your early decision on how to play the game
- Visuals are great (however I'm more of a fan of a water from the OG Windward)
- Economy is harder to understand, but much fun than in OG
- Story is there, sometimes it's a wall of text so not for everyone but still, it's much better to have it than not. Characters help you understand the lore of the game which is better than just pick your faction and move on (Windward 1)
- You can romance with few characters (hail to the spider's queen!)
- The PvP part of the game (not forced - like both parties agree to join the PvP) was quite fun - I especially enjoy the PvP instance in the middle of the ocean, when people could join and just fight without any purpose. You get killed - you wait for a bit, resawn and the next round starts.
- The dev is very active in development, there are patches almost every day, I sometimes dumped my idea into suggestion thread and few hours later the game had it already implemented. However he doesn't agree to every change even if you feel you are right, which might be frustrating.
- I still love the music, hearing it for many hours

Not so good things:
- Repetitive part of the game gets tedious after a while, so the game in my opinion is more suited to coop or server play than singleplayer - play the game and chat with people, the community on official server was great.
However... if you played OG Windward then you know what grinding means :D In this game the grinding part doesn't feel that slow and I feel it's improvement.
- The game comes with a helper popups which is good, however there's no builtin wikipedia or anything that allows you to understand all inner workings of the game. Sometimes mechanics can be complex due to various issues - mechanics introduced to solve some bad behaviors when playing online, however if you don't follow patch notes you might get overwhelmed as not everything is obvious. If you like the game and want to understand it more, you might need to join the discord server and follow patch notes section a bit more closely.

I like trains

I'd love to know the game better and maybe play some more of it but there's fibrous leaves nowhere to be found and I cannot advance the game because it is required to almost every recipe. This is stupid, limitting core resource to only a few.

So I opened up the game to test it out if it's worth my money and it's 6 am already.
