I've been a fan of this series since Dom4. I thought Dom5 was a step in the right direction and I think 6 is a further step. I like Dom6. I want to make two recommendations, both to people who have played dominions and to newcomers.

For people who have played dominions: If you are a veteran of this series, you probably already own this game and there's not much on which to sell you. If you are returning from previous games, there have been some decent changes since Dom5 that I think are great. First, the UI is better. It's not *great* but it definitely is an improvement from the previous games. Second, there have been a few features added to help reduce micromanagement (notably being able to automate searching for magic sites). It is still dominions so there is still micro, but Illwinter has taken steps to try and lessen it. If you bounced off Dom5 or really enjoyed it, I think that you should at least check out Dom6. There's a lot to love.

For newcomers to the series: This is the best entry point to the series. As noted above, there have been great improvements to make the game more playable. The only reason why I would hesitate to recommend it to new players immediately is that the community is still updating guides and other resources for Dom6. If you are interested in the series, check out LucidTactics beginner's guides/introductions to see if it might be for you and try out Dom6!
