Early Access Review
The game looks great, the guns look and sound fantastic...but you can't actually play the game outside of the shooting range, because the servers are empty. At peak hours I saw five people on. And the servers don't fill the gap with bots like in Verdun or Tannenberg, so you're stuck with these empty lobbies. Beyond the Wire simply isn't worth the price, even on sale, when there's no way to properly play it. Hopefully this will change in the future - there is a serious lack of good, relevant games about World War I and I'd love to see this one succeed. I'll happily change my review if the game ever becomes playable.

You either die a hero or play DBD long enough to see yourself become the T-bagger.

Is Leatherface worth the money in 2022?

TL;DR: No, not unless you really like TCM.

I love TCM. The original is easily one of the best movies ever made and Leatherface is one of my favorite slashers. But he's downright boring to play in this game. He's nearly identical to the Hillbilly, with his only advantage coming from the AOE sweeping motion his chainsaw does. Not only that, but the fan-favorite perk BBQ and Chili, which was fantastic for grinding bloodpoints, will be nerfed to remove the bloodpoint bonus. BBQ and Chili is still a good perk, but it's not $4.99 good. If you really want the information bonus that BBQ provides, wait for it to show up in the Shrine of Secrets.

The demo serves as a great benchmarking tool to test your system for the main game. Not sure why more companies don't do demos of major titles.

Not worth it after the multiple nerfs and reworking of Boon: Circle of Healing. Only buy it if you really like the look of the character.

I can complain all I want but I keep coming back, so they must be doing something right.

I'd give this a "Maybe" recommendation if I could.

Pros: The style and graphics gorgeous, the sailing physics are real enough to make me sea sick, and the gameplay on its own is super fun. I had a blast during the intro / tutorial mission.

Cons: PVP only. If you don't have any friends who are interested in this game, don't bother. Playing solo is miserable. The players I've encountered are some of the most toxic lose-your-faith-in-humanity people I've experienced in PVP gaming. I'm sure there are plenty of chill people who play this game, but I have yet to meet them. It doesn't matter how small or noob-adjacent your ship is - people with giant galleons will attack you and they will be childish about it.

It's not as fast paced or "metal" as the other Doom games, but it's still a lot of fun. The game looks amazing and runs well. The atmosphere is incredible, especially if you stick to the original version's vision and keep your flashlight off during combat. I think my only complaint is that the BFG edition is just too easy. Turn up the difficulty if you play it. Additionally, don't buy it for the included ports of Doom 1 and 2. There are better ports of those two games elsewhere.
