I got the base game deeply discounted on a sale, played for about 10 hours through some of the single-player campaigns, then bought all of the DLC full price to support the creators. This is easily one of the most fun WWII strategy games I've ever played, the attention to detail is really what makes it stand out to me - it's like being 12 years old again playing with tank and infantry models in the sand box except it's all animated with exquisite detail and sound design.

There are multiple different game-types to explore, I've personally enjoyed the carefully crafted campaign missions for various factions (the US Airborne is my favorite so far) and Conquest campaigns where you slowly (or quickly) build your own army up through continuous missions. Conquest campaigns can range from small to infinite, so there is a lot of content to explore there.

Additionally there is a decent selection of mods for the game if you're into that.

I have to mention the ability to enter 3rd and 1st person views for troops and vehicles as that is one of the primary aspects that differentiates this game from others in the genre. I personally don't switch views too frequently and like to play with an overhead view like a classic RTS but there's definitely a lot of fun and shennanigans to be had with this concept. Plus, you've never felt more bad-ass in an RTS game then rushing a trench in 3rd person view with your Winchester pump-action shotgun.

While there's definitely a learning curve regarding controls and management of troops, it's not too steep and RTS veterans will probably pick it up quicker than I did.

I'm so glad I found this game. Coming from games like Company of Heroes and Sudden Strike, both of which I still greatly enjoy, this game just scratches a different itch that can't be matched by any other games I've tried so far.

This is really a quite enjoyable, fun and historical experience. You can play on easy and run through the campaigns without much fuss or play on normal and have a more tactical experience. I've really had a fun time completing the challenges on each mission which limit your forces in various ways such as no air support or the inability to steal enemy equipment, it is like solving a puzzle at times when determining how to attack a fortified enemy position.

I can't speak much to how this game compares to previous Sudden Strike entries but this game is must have for RTS fans, particularly if you are interested in WWII history/setting. It is a very fun and addictive game and each of the DLCs are also worth your time if you enjoy the base game. Each DLC adds new campaign missions with interesting scenarios and achievements that are in line with the base game.

High skill curve to the game, but the atmosphere and setting is unmatched and very immersive. Very easy to sink hundreds of hours into the game and there is constant content and events being added. Good luck hunting if you're playing solo!
