A very cool looking 3-player co-op first-person action game with a heavy emphasis on cooperation. Firebreak is deep for appearing to be a Left 4 Dead-style game in the Control/Alan Wake Universe. Employing rouge-ish design wherein every run is a little bit different with a whole suite of modifiers, each mission changes with increasing difficult levels. Could use some more variety, but overall very enjoyable.

Many reviewers seem to negate the hidden depth that this game forces which make it very unique insomuch as you NEED to cooperate with you teammates to progress. This game is much deeper with a good skill ceiling than one would first think. The objectives change and the map employs small changes & modifiers with increased difficulties. This game really hits its stride as you move up in difficulty.

Shooting is only 50% of Firebreak, the rest is the mechanics that remind me of raid-lite features from games such as Destiny 2. I had a great time getting addicted into this game and always wanted to do one more run to unlock a new gun, spray or skin. Players should not play this game expecting a straightforward shooter and ignore its core mechanics.

The game is otherwise beautiful to look at with a very unique Remedy-esque style, lovely effects, great animation, and otherwise great performance. The audio is good albeit could use some major tuning with volume. Lots of otherworldly sounds and good, if unremarkable music that gets your blood pumping.

At this current time there are issues including numerous major connection issues and a lack of both voice and text chat. Certain objects & actions lack sound effects. Additionally levels lack variety in that they should have include more procedural generation outside of modifiers, safe rooms, & ammo/health. Without increased variety the experience will get tiring. Finally, more weapons would be good to see in future content.

A great buy if you like team-based mechanic-heavy co-op games with a unique art style set int a multi-title universe. Do not buy if you want a straightforward shooter. Enjoy with an open-mind for a summer of 20+ hours of fun.
