I've played this much longer on Switch after the official release since I really enjoy the portability, so don't let the 27 hours playtime fool you. I've finished the game, collected all the monsters, and cleared all the bonus content, so unsurprisingly, I really enjoyed the whole experience!

+ Monster balance and diversity is the star here. You can come up with sooooo many viable comps. That could be a little overwhelming, but I never found that to be the case.
+ Combat is great. Rewards understanding of mechanics, and it's lots of fun trying to get full stars on champion bosses, and check out other people's teams (some very creative people out there).
+ Love the metroidvania aspect of the game, very nicely integrated into the genre. It was lots of fun re-visiting areas after getting a monster that has the ability needed to overcome some obstacle (swimming, flying, etc.).
+ Great design on the monsters, and very nice world.
+ Music never got boring and nicely matched the different zones.

- Story isn't the selling point on this game, although it had some interesting twists, so this should not be a reason not to enjoy this great game.
- Future update will include a way to add notes on map to remember places that need revisiting. On the Switch I just took screenshots so it wasn't too bad.

This game is awesome. I keep coming back to it every once in a while and haven't gotten bored after 333 hours.

- you move with the beat.
- if you move outside of the beat, you lose your move (and some bonus gold coefficient).
- enemies also move with the beat (different onces have different movement patterns / attacks).
- if you move and touch an enemy you hit them.

Sounds simple right? It is. But it's not easy. And it's loads of fun!
Add to that a WTFAMAZING soundtrack, then throw in the shop keeper's awesome opera voice (that gets louder/lower depending on your distance from him), great boss fights with unique music of their own (Konga monkey thing? Jazzy instrument baddies?), and you get an amazing game.

Add a bunch of very unique and different weapons, upgrades (within and outside each run), a bunch of different characters each with their unique play-style (playing monk for example, you decide the pace at which everything moves, instead of having to move to the beat), and you get a TON of content.

Buy this if only for the soundtrack. Seriously.

Unless you need a game to give you a tutorial and explain everything, you'd be hard-pressed to find something to dislike about this game.
That been said, the learning curve is well-done, so finding out things by yourself should not pose a problem.

The art is gorgeous, the soundtrack sets the mood perfectly, and is worth a buy by itself.
The battle is engaging and never gets stale (at least during the first playthrough), with a deep level of customization, which is lots of fun to play around with.

Finally, the story is engaging and moves along at a brisk pace: totally recommend this game!
