First off, reviewing this to get the 2024 Autumn Steam Badge

The game on launch was a fun experience, hard to believe it was "set in the same universe" as the rest of the Arkham series.
Moving on, we'll just say it was a parallel dimension or alternate universe because that really is a disservice to the Arkham series.
The game in core playability and story was a fun, unique story experience, challenging yourself through a starting cast of heroes(or anti-heroes/straight villains rather), though however the online, live-service aspect of the game leaves much to be desired. Call this a bias review but I have yet to come back to any of the updates since launch as I have no desire to replay any new additions to the game.
Could I be missing out on a great time? Possibly. Who knows? I might come back to it one day, but from the advertising and the dramatic falloff of the game, I don't care for it.

Playing the game if you're a fan of the Half Life series, I cannot recommend enough. Or even just a new consumer into the world of Half Life or especially VR in general.
This game encapsulates so much throughout the time-span of the story, making you feel immersed and insignifcant in the grandeur of the world you live in.
Few gripes to be had with this game I can list include;
- Too many puzzles, or the same type of puzzle make the interaction you have with the world feel repetitive.
- Melee combat, when the game presents you with the ability to control the gravity of objects with your fingertips, you expect the items you can pick up to hold mass and weaponize such, this is not found in HL:A (unless you include the end sequence) and hope to be improved upon if future installments of the series (in hope they return to VR, also at what is teased post credit)
- Finally, though not an issue with the game itself and instead my own knowledge, I wish i had know sooner that the streaming quality from Steam Link to my Quest 3, was set in a lower resolution that I had anticipated. Thus, after play-through I had changed these bandwidth settings through Steam and found the fidelity of the game to be photo-realistic. I feel as if I had missed a great sense of immersion not knowing this sooner, not to the games discredit.
Optimally, seek direct PC link to your headset or instead high quality bandwidth set from your steamlink to avoid said problem.
