I've played through this game countless times, and have relished every moment of it. From its simple wholesomeness of story events, whether you're playing the base game or DLC (I'd highly recommend getting all the DLC. It just adds so many more moments of wholesomeness.). You'll come to love all the characters with the little quirks of their personality that makes them, them.
With how well written the characters are, it's inevitable that you'll come to love the characters (Especially Cove Holden.) while working through each story segment.
On top of it all, this game is very wholesome in how it lets you explore self-discovery, coming of age type of stuff. Whether you're playing a straight girl, starting as a boy who learns/figures out they're trans later on (Including option of transitioning too.), or a straight up gay guy. It's got lots of options for expressing yourself through the in-game character that represents you.
Out of all the romance visual novels I've played through, there's none that has ever captured my heart as much as Our Life has. It's a game where it truly makes you feel like you're Beginning your life in Sunset Bird, and finding that special someone you want to spend your Always with.

Much as I love the concept and would relish seeing this game fulfill whatever potential it could've had. The developers have obviously abandoned the game, there has been no progress or updates in several months, much less any actual communication on their part. I only recently discovered it's been removed from Early Access, which would ding those who have it on their wishlist in what's an obvious cash grab. Even if this game is only $8-$10, it's still way too much for a very minimal game with simplistic combat system, and is absolutely far from complete.
