A fun first person platformer that doesn't over stay its welcome. There are some extra abilities to help make going back and messing with levels fun but most likely you'll play everything this game has to offer in about 7 hours. All and all fun but not something to get invested in.

The Monster Inside is a short story driven experience.
I honestly cannot suggest this game for the following reasons.

The game is very short. This usually wouldn't be a problem, but the lack of playtime leaves the game and story feeling half baked. The game moves at a break neck pace killing off people who you know nothing about in order to build up to a quickly resolved climax.

The writing is cliched and uninteresting. This game has the staple noir tropes, but doesn't do anything with them that you haven't seen before. It also uses same tired similes you'd see in other uninspired noir games. The Monster Inside seems to take it's inspiration from the tropes and cliches of the genre rather than the films themselves.

Being a big fan of noir this game just reminded me of how great the writing in film noir is and how badly this game misses the mark

The fantasy part of the game is apparent from the beginning, and the twist that comes with it is uninspired and predictable.

The graphics and music are noirish and probably the best parts of the game, but they can't save the story or the writing.

Overall the game tries to create a film noir experience that just really doesn't deliver.
There really isn't anything good to say about this game except it's free and it's short. However, There are so many other good short free games out there that I feel like I can't give this one a pass just because I didn't spend any money.
