I've played a lot of VR games over the last year, and very few have held my interest as much as this one. I've never played the non-VR version, so I can't say how the controls compare, but I did some reading up before purchasing and modded the heck out of it. Totally worth the 3+ hours I spent setting it up!

For me, the pros and cons are as follows (bear in mind I've not played the standard version):

Pros:
-Utterly bloody beautiful!
-Really, really immersive
-Great voice acting, music etc
-Easy to learn
-My shadow looks so cool! XD

Cons:
-More treasure than I can easily sell
-Needs mods to be worth playing
-Pretty naff hand-to-hand combat experience

A note on motion sickness:
I've seen a lot of the reviews here mentioning the game is bad for motion sickness, but I disagree. I get hideously motion sick and can't play a single VR game that uses non-teleport movement styles, but I have ZERO issues with Skyrim. Granted, the cart scene at the beginning is really bad, but one of the mods I installed allows you to skip it. Just use the teleport motion option and you'll be fine!

I also noted a lot of people in the reviews suggesting it wasn't worth the price tag. Again, I may be biased here having never owned or played the standard version, but I think it's worth every penny. It's enormous, graphically stunning, utterly immersive and tons of fun. I don't regret paying full pricel. :)

Early Access Review
This works pretty well! I've only just started playing around with the built-in content, as I mainly bought it to interact with existing models in 3D. The built-in resources are good, and the interface is fairly straightforward, so all good there. More importantly, I managed to import a number of pre-made figures from Poser, after converting them to .dae. It's is a dream come true to be able to see those in VR!

I am getting a few issues with certain files though, when I just get the 'fart-noise' (sorry, saw it in another review, and it seemed so apt I nicked it!) when I try to import them. Is there a limit on file-sizes, or any other restrictions that might cause an import to fail?

Also, any news on when (or if) we'll be able to import animated files? :)

This was a fab experience - I had great fun flying the airship around! The controls were easy to pick up, and it worked really well with Oculus Rift + Touch Controllers. Lovely, tranquil atmos (well, except for the bit when I got attacked!) :D Took about 20 mins to play through, and I'd definitely recommend.

As an aside, most motion VR experiences make me feel sick, and this is the ONLY ONE where you're constantly moving where I didn't get VR motion sickness. Not sure what you guys did differently, but it worked for me! <3

I'm not new to VR. I've had an Oculus Rift & Touch for about 8 months, and have played quite a few games in that time, including many of the free games and experiences available on Steam and elsewhere. For a short freebie, this is absolutely fantastic. It's definitely immersive, the graphics are good, and the combat, while in need of refining, is good enough to give you goosebumps when enemies attack! The skeleton warriors put me in mind of Harryhausen's animated monsters from my childhood, which brought some extra atmosphere, and I had a great time blocking, parrying and slashing my way to freedom.

I agree with what some others have said about difficulty in picking up and using items, and that the sword gets stuck on part of the environment, but at the end of the day, it's a short, free-to-play game. This has tons of potential, and based on what we've been shown so far, I'd be happy to buy a full-length game.
