I came into this game fairly sceptical after hearing a lot of negative reviews about the game. After actually playing the game myself, in my opinion many (not all - but many) of those reviews are horribly biased and come from people who don't seem to have actually played the full game, and/or have genuine skill issues.

The story is fairly well done, it's nothing mindblowing or does anything super different, but it is a solid, good, and satisfying narrative that I enjoyed playing.

The big standout imo is the characters. They are fantastic, some of the best written characters I've seen in a while. They interact with you, each other, and the world around them. It's nice to feel like the characters aren't these little content islands and rather, they influence you and each other and feel very interconnected to the story. They also grow and change over the course of the game. My favourite characters are Emmrich and Taash. Taash especially surprised me, because common reviews would lead you to believe she is the annoying, edgy character. But rather they are delightful. They have lots of whimsy and humour.

Gameplay is super fun. I was playing on the hard difficulty, and I had no problems throughout the game. Nothing felt super spongy or anything, and I feel like many people who do say that it did feel spongy didn't actually read their or their companions abilities, and didn't have anything that synergised super well? \

The art as well, amazing. Peak. Phenomonal. The environments were spectacular, with special credits to the lighting team because holy moly they cooked. The characters also looked amazing. Some people weren't pleased with the proportions of them, which I get, but I personally love the stylized style, and thought it was a good direction to go in considering how it turned out.

Overall, I had a really good time with Veilguard and didn't expect to at all the negativity out there when it comes to this game. If you are hesitant but think you might vibe with the game, or are a DA fan, I would suggest you give it a go. It might surprise you!
