played severed steel and the demo for this, so I knew what to expect - still blown away on how much content they ended up with compared to the demo. I'm so glad the developers continue to create games that make my adhd go brrrr

But seriously, while progression is very basic in its material form in this game, the player themselves also acts as a part of progression. You'll start off having fun just blasting enemies with the basic revolver (and missing half your shots) to having a seizure on your keyboard swapping between weapons while exploiting the movement systems to their fullest by the end of the game. It just keeps getting better as YOU get better!

The only critique I have is that the movement can get a little janky when you're fighting the mobile bosses, but really I think it just adds another layer of chaos to this concoction of crack and speed.

tl;dr: the devs took the first person spasm genre to the next level and I'm all for it

I "enjoy" this game, but at what cost to my sanity? The primitive part of my brain desires perfection, but I cannot ever achieve it. This "game" is a sisyphean puzzle. This optimization game is a lie. This is torment to the soul, yet a guilty pleasure to the mind. Factorio is what it means to be human.

anyway, it's pretty fun and tickles my brain so you should play it

tl;dr: beat up monsters for the equivalent of 5 USD and spend it all on food and soda to heal your party hee-ho

Strikers is my first musou/hack n' slash game, I decided to pick this up after finishing P5R. I don't hate it. Sure, feels a bit tedious and the story is not nearly as good as in the mainline titles, but it's actually quite fun beating up crowds of bozos when you get into it. Boss fights aren't a breeze on Normal, but they aren't too difficult or unfair from my experience. The game kind of drags out the tutorials through the first Jail, but I don't mind it as a newcomer to the genre.

If you are expecting all the Persona-related systems to be fleshed out, I'm sorry. Fusion is terribly neutered and I don't bother messing with it very much. Most of the items you buy are going to be healing items for your team as they get bodied by boss fights. The main draw is the combat, and if you're a player who enjoys time management and day to day life within the world, you'll be sorely disappointed.

It's definitely extremely linear and doesn't seem to have much meaningful replayability. But so far, I've logged about 12 hours on my save and I'm pretty sure I'm only half way through the game, so there's still plenty of value-for-money to be had here. If you're a Persona 5 fan then you'll at least like the character interactions outside of the gameplay.

If you're looking for something to hold you over until Persona 3 Reload or Persona 6 arrives, this ain't a bad time investment.
