Get Repel Equipment.
Bring it to the optional boss fight.
Get instakilled because you brought Repel equipment to the boss fight without warning or foresight. Obviously my fault, why would I give myself an advantage.

Impale yourself on a cactus Atlus.

10/10 would get punished by poor design decisions by Atlus again.

If you want to play the Story and are worried about the gacha, don't be.

There are two different game modes.
First one is your typical gacha game where you go through stages and collect your three stars for doing well.
The other mode is where you go back to the world to pick different choices and stuff.

You can bring some of your unique characters that you get from the main mode to the story mode, but they are not needed to win. In fact I had some broken(in my case A fast character that can go far & gets buffs to attack on how many tiles they moved) ass generic characters in my first cycle, so the unique characters are cool and all, but not needed.

Anyhooo, you can safely ignore the gacha or just gacha at your own leisure without worrying about missing characters. The story mode and it's multiple endings are all open for you and you can still build some broken generic characters.

Besides the gacha, the multiple choices and endings have their own mechanics which require to repeat the "cycle" with that you get new abilities and buffs with each cycle. So yeah replaying for new endings comes with new mechanics.

It's a gacha game without microtransactions, that means the games progression is very out of wack... So good news, the game will not nickle and dime you for everything. Bad news the progression is not really designed for this, it does work but damn it feels weird to being able to get everything at once and nothing is really stopping you.

Overall, I played Metal Slug Attack when it was still available, I really like Line Auto Battle games and in general I like Metal Slug as a series.

This is a very nice way to Preserve this game for the future once the Live Service is dead. If for nothing else I support game companies porting their gachas like this after the live service model reaches the EOL. Not a perfect solution mind you, but a solid one.

TL;DR:
If Epic Games account is the hill you want die on, by all means do not buy this game.
Otherwise if you want more EDF 5, buy this game. It's EDF 5 with more stuff.

Epic Games account is a non-issue for me.
_____________________________

Most of the Negative reviews are because of the fact that EDF 6 on steam requires an Epic games account because of EOS - Epic Online Services. I speculate this is because EDF 6 is sold on Steam & Epic and using each platforms online services. In order to not seperate both player bases, you need an account for Epic Games in order to play Online. Adding to the fire is the fact that Epic Games account requirement for online play was not disclosed.

Gameplay wise.
If you like EDF 5 you will like EDF 6. It's EDF 5 with more stuff. Having fun so far.

If you like Homeworld 1, 2 or Cataclysm and expect it to be like one of those games. Don't buy this game, you'll be far better off.

I've been a fan of all 3 games that came out before it. But Homeworld 3 is just disaster, I was so utterly disappointing. I rather There wouldn't be Homeworld 3 at all and let this Journey end with Homeworld 2.
_______________________
Gameplay wise:
1 - Gameplay is too fast compared to the previous homeworld, spam units and throw them at the enemy. Time to kill for ships is way too fast especially for capital ships.
2 - Engagement ranges are a joke, everything is super close compared to the previous titles.
3 - This game does not encourage you to keep your ships alive, all of them are throwaway. In the previous game you'd work hard to keep your fleet alive, sometimes to your detriment. Here whatever, they don't matter, they won't survive that long.
4 - Don't bother with formations, they don't work.
5 - Friendly AI is impossible to work with. The Engagement Rules (Aggressive, Neutral, Passive) they don't work properly.

Story Wise:
TL;DR.
Don't play it, don't bother it's not worth it. Just let it die with Homeworld 2 and go live out the rest of your life in peace.

Homeworld 3 is mostly character focused, unlike in 1 and 2 where it was mostly focused on peoples(Bentusi, Higarans, Vaygr and etc.) or the fleet. But oh boy did they pick the most unlikeable characters they could find. I thought I could stomach this garbage, but then the Navigator dream/vision sequences kicked in and I just dropped the game right there. I just can't. I can't take the big bad seriously.

Homeworld 2 story was arguably a downgrade, but the reason Makaan works as a big bad is because you don't see or interact with him that much. He's a big bad Warrior Lord that wants to take all your stuff, and that's all you need to know. Here in Homeworld 3 we get to know everything and it's too much. And once we know everything it's ludicrous.

Characters can be done in Homeworld games, just check out cataclysm, they don't even have names in that game, but I still remember the Captain threatening to shove down the mothership into the Bentusi ships and he tries to stop them from leaving.

Anyways... Homeworld 3 story writers are just garbage. After checking the credits it's clear why they are garbage, because theres too many of them. Too many cooks in the kitchen. I wish I could be nicer to them, they're people after all, but this just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shipwreck.

So in conclusion.
Gameplay is not like the previous games at all. It's mostly Meh.
Story is a disaster.

Homeworld is probably dead now as disappointing as this death was, it's probably dead for good now.
I can move on with my life.

A group of succubi(Lilim) asked me to take them to the human world so they could feast on human energies, they promised me there would be no deaths by snusnu as they only required a little bit of it.

I said eh, why not and killed my allied angels from Bethel guarding the way. Whoever is getting culturally enriched by a Lilim, you're most welcome. Let me know if the cultural enrichment was too much and you are now deceased, a promise is a promise after all.
