Gets a thumbs up from me just for how the first game in the default order is in the style of an old 2d platformer with extremely fiddly, annoying jumping. They're for real when it comes to old school game design

Gameplay gets a bit repetitive during some later combat sections but I still found it fun throughout, with a fun setting, plot, and cast of characters.

I think overall I still prefer the feel and aesthetic of the original more, the great 90s FPS games have a feeling that I really love, but the updated visuals all look nice and the updates they made to NPC interactions make the facility feel much more alive. I also enjoyed certain sequences that they fleshed out more, the way Crowbar Collective handled the military losing ground to the aliens I think added a lot of character compared to the original. And Xen is just a lot more fun, the pop up labs really bring back a taste of the horror element from the earlier sections of the game and the gonarch fight is dynamic and fun in the way a lot of HL2 bosses felt. Overall it's a fun time for anyone interested having a fresh look at Half Life, or for COWARDS who can't handle 90s graphics.
