S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobyl was easily the reason that I had made my parents buy me my own PC when I was around 8. My older cousin had showed me this game when I was visiting them, thus spiraling me down into the dark atmospheric genre that I enjoy so heavily now.

Pros:
-Open world (done right)
-Each NPC has a unique name, obvious pro
-Short, but not too short day and night cycle
-Excellent soundtrack and atmospheric sounds
-Excellently detailed map and immserive environments
-Large array of weapons and outfits, for any environment and situation
-Interesting storyline with amazing twists to keep the player on the edge of their seat
-The AI can definitely suprise you with their accuracy and flanking maneuvers
-Two major factions have their own stories outside of the main story, letting the player choose between the two or letting the player sit on the fence

Cons:
-Definitely a buggy game, random crashes with no explanation can be frustrating
-Visually the game isn't excellent, however mods such as Complete 2009, can help this issue
-Lots of running around, expect to see the load screen a lot even though it doesn't last very long
-Weapons and armour degrade through usage and have no way of being repaired without mods
-The AI can definitely be predictable, even float off towers they're patrolling, or getting stuck on doorways etc

Overall it's an excellent game, extremely unique storyline, atmosphere and setting.
Wouldn't play on a difficulty other than the hardest, as the game can definitely feel too easy otherwise.

However personally, after the first playthrough the game should definitely be played with mods.
Even through the first playthrough, a mod such as Complete 2009 could be used just to improve graphics.
Such as, Call of Chernobyl or a much harder mod, Last Day. Similar to Call of Chernobyl - but extremely more difficult.

Definitely worth your time playing, definitely worth the pricetag.

OCE Community is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trash, like without a doubt the worst gaming community I have ever seen.
Unless you have a premade 4 or 5 man then good luck getting into this game after it's been out for so long.

yeah it's alright

Excellent game. Well optimized, fun community.
Only downside is possibly overpriced DLC, however if you're playing the game as much as I do it's not a problem.

Bought it for DayZ, never played default Arma xde
