Grand Theft Auto III, the Godfather of 3D open-world games, and just like the Persona series, this 3rd mainline game is where the series actually started for a lot of people. I understand making a review for this game is kind of moot considering that it's delisted from Steam, but I still would like to give my thoughts on the game in case they remain any relevant to or are challenged by the supposed Trilogy Remastered version, and maybe inspire some people to take a GTA game for a spin for once

In this game, we follow our new, silent protagonist "Claude" through his misadventures as an fugitive turned hired gun in Liberty City, (which is a parody of New York City, and is also called the "worst place in America", so take that commentary as you will), looking for a way to make a killing again, and get revenge on his ex-girlfriend that betrayed him and left him to take the fall for a robbery of the Bank of Liberty City.

Now, onto the actual review, I don't think this game is any good at all if you don't already like GTA from one of the better games. It's easily the worst "modern" GTA in terms of writing, game design, narrative, etc, to the point where people consider GTA Vice City to be the real GTA 3. But, I'll lay out the pros and cons for playing such a cursed game:

What am I getting into with GTA 3?
+ Good worldbuilding and characters, in GTA 3 the universe is as crude as crude can be. Everyone is basically a maniac or incredibly cold in what they do, yet they all come off as a badass, or somehow comedic, or just plain stupid, or in some cases all of the above, and you'll probably end up enjoying most if not all of them for it because this game series is known for making legendary anti-heroes you can't help but love.
+ Good continuity as always, you meet a lot of characters from the prequel games like GTA LCS and GTA VC like Donald Love (VC), Toni Cipriani (LCS), Salvatore Leone (LCS), etc. The Forellis are a part of Leone side of missions, which is important to note for VC as well. Even Claude and Catalina's first in-universe appearances were in 1992, in GTA San Andreas.
+ Good licensed music as always, but GTA 3 specifically has the best radio station in all of GTA in Moving Shadow Radio (MSX FM).
+ Needless to say, you get to kill people and blow stuff up, it's awesome.

What's so bad about GTA 3?
- Silent and underdeveloped protagonist leaves us with the a lack of a main character for no good reason, and a lot of dialogue to the player is also awkward because it HAS to be all one-sided. The game keeps its composure despite this, but good lord it makes the whole game feel like fetch quests and not like you're actually doing something for yourself like VC/SA.
- Game design is really scuffed in a lot of ways; minimap is not very detailed. No expandable in-game map like future GTA games, no map blips during missions, some very important blips do not appear at all such as Ammu-Nation stores.
- Game lacks a lot of things to do in general; you're almost always just doing jobs to progress the plot, there's not much else to do in terms of side missions, finding collectibles and looking at the map. The urban setting is nice but you don't buy this game to look at street corners all day. Money is also really shallow; missions give you a bunch, but no customization or anything to spend it on, you're only using your money to buy more guns and ammo, which you can never spend too much on.
- Game balancing and mission difficulty sucks half the time. I wouldn't have beaten this game without using cheats for the last 1/3rd, that's how bad some of the balancing gets. Lots of the mission difficulty assumes you know what the hell you're doing on a mission you've never done before; a lot of these missions you have to play them multiple times to complete because 1 mistake can ruin it all for you. Retrying is also pretty tedious. I could write an essay on everything wrong in this regard, but it ultimately comes down to poor/no standards in the early 2000s.
- Standalone story writing and narrative is nearly nonexistent compared to the other 3D trilogy games, or requires playing the other 3D trilogy games or the prequel to understand. I think this stems from a myriad of issues and I could write a full essay on this too, but I'm not going to do that here. I'll just let you know that GTA games start getting real logical story in Vice City, not here.

I may be biased, but regardless of all this, I'll still give this game a thumbs up, because it has its own charm and each GTA game feels more and more like a part of a whole rather than a standalone game the more you play into the series, and MSX FM is just too good to not recommend.

KILL YOUR FRIENDS GUILT FREE.

One of the absolute worst fighting games ever made, that ended up helping kick off one of the best fighting game series AND genres ever made.

This game can be considered "bad". Yeah, we all know. When I tell you this game is bad, its very objectively and irrefutably bad by any fighting game players' standards. Even by the standards of its time, it was a very, very fundamentally flawed game; a kusoge, if you will. And for GG fans, don't play this expecting ANYTHING close to the incredible gameplay or spritework of +R. You'll be playing a completely different game, GG1, not that. But looking past its shortcomings in playability, you'll find it to be an incredible blast to the past, and see everything stupidly unique about Guilty Gear: The Missing Link that helped Guilty Gear survive, thrive, and create a whole new plane of fighting games right underneath everyone's noses.

"Now, what could possibly be so good about this rough, unpolished, ghetto-looking PS1 fighting game from the late 90s?"

Daisuke didn't care.

He didn't care one bit about game balance or playing it safe or sticking to any roots. He said screw it, if its my first game, I'm going big!... and flipped an entire game genre on its head in one release.

Not many other games feel or felt as downright insane or unfair as GG1. The only game that came close was Vampire, the other proto-AFG. No other game had air combos either. No other game had a cancel system as free and insane as GG. No other game can you KILL YOUR OPPONENT INSTANTLY FROM ROUND START FROM BEING QUICKER THAN THEM LIKE A WESTERN DUEL. No other game could you charge your strongest move like you're some shonen protag to make it an absolutely insane anime-esque weapon of mass destruction. And "Dust"? WTF is "Dust"? FREE AIR COMBOOOOOS!

And he did that. He did everything. the absolute madman.

And aside from the insanity of the gameplay, the aesthetics - GAAAAHD DAMN. Even as a recent fan of P4G, I have to say that Persona fans have to move over in some discussions of stylization. This is literally the game that invented the Arcsys round start, with "HEAVEN or HELL, LET'S ROCK!" The only other game that kicked you off as raw as this was SFA3.

This game truly is awful, but also awfully godlike. But real talk... don't pay $10 for this... buy it when its on sale for two bucks, because it honestly looks and plays like and has the audio quality of a flash game.

DOOM, but on Venus. This game is the origin story for our favorite Eye of Providence, Yung Venuz, who is more commonly known from being playable in Nuclear Throne.

Pros:
+ Its DOOM (Shooting and fast walkspeed, why not?)
+ All 6 of the music tracks are good
+ You become a GUN GOD
+ Guns for fake necklace

Cons:
- Its DOOM (Game gets very repetitive, and doesn't have much substance to make you come back)
- Its very short
- You probably won't play this again after you beat it

TL;DR: Game is alright for a short little gimmick game, but you probably won't like it unless you're a Nuclear Throne fan.

UNICLR - A fun and fundamentally solid, 4-button, ground-based anime fighter.

Before I start this, I want to make it very clear that despite this developer's game history, this is NOT a Melty Blood 2, and it DOES NOT play like Melty Blood. It shares certain game mechanics and strategy, but if you're looking for an updated Melty Blood, this game isn't it. It is a completely different game from that. Stop comparing the two and downvoting it with the only reasoning/a jab being "Melty is better" when this is literally a completely different game series. I love both games, but it just has to be said. You don't expect 3rd Strike when you play MVC even though Capcom made both, the same should go here.

Anyway, onto the important stuff about UNI:

Pros:
+ GRD system; every fighting game has their own unique gimmicks, and for UNI, its GRD. Creates nuances in gameplay that makes it stand out between other fighters because it puts extra weights on your offensive/defensive actions and options even moreso than the basic FG fundamentals
+ There's a character for every classic FG archetype, but they're all on 'roids in this game since its an anime fighter, so they all do their jobs very well and are very fun. This game also has a wide execution requirement range; some characters require high execution, some characters require little to no advanced execution at all, and they all have both baby mode and high execution combos for all skill levels
+ Heavenly tutorial, anyone at any skill level can learn from it to learn either the basics or advanced mechanics of UNI and/or fighters in general
+ Despite being an anime game, and despite its history, this revision of Under Night is actually pretty well balanced; even the literal shoto bootleg who is relatively underwhelming in this game can reliably get wins through skilled use of the system mechanics
+ If you're really dedicated, the community has a hell of a lot of resources to learn this game on their community Discord / GBL / keeponrockin
+ Only one DLC character out of 21 total, all other purchaseable content you see on the game page is cosmetic (and negligible, if you have the means). You don't have to pay an arm and a leg to play as a main character (ahem ahem, SFV), and this means no hype baiting either

Cons:
- Yes, this game has delay-based netcode. Yes, we all know it can suck terribly (I sometimes get 5F of input delay MINIMUM versus someone a state over from me). Does it mean this game sucks? In my opinion, no, not really. If you can play it offline or get a good connection game versus someone in your region, UNICLR holds itself up very well. My friends and I don't always get a good connection, but we muddle through it anyway because its still fun as hell.

That being said, WE NEED ROLLBACK!!!

Delay-based netcode is unacceptable in the current year, and if you value fighting games having a consistent playerbase, you should be all for rollback/hybrid netcode, and developers should do their best to implement it for future games, if not putting forth an effort to implement it into existing games they support.

UPDATE: Kamone and the French Bread team are working on implementing rollback netcode, he says the progress is slow but its coming eventually. Keep your eyes on this game!

Other than that, I literally have no other "valid" cons, that's how fond I am of this game. If you want to try getting into anime fighters, I suggest you start with this one.

I don't mention the intricacies of the game in this review, as people's game mechanic and balancing tastes are all different, and there aren't too many issues that are objectively "bad" or polarizing in gameplay in my opinion.

Note that my views may also be biased, as I would consider myself barely competent in this game. I did much more research than I spent time playing before I dropped it.

If you still aren't too sure if you should get this or not, I suggest you purchase this game while its on sale to cut your losses if you end up not liking it.

TL;DR: Game good, online is pretty bad but it will get better soon, and its still a good experience regardless

An epic sprited roguelike with guns that fake necklace, guns that hate texas, guns that make breakfast, guns that suck breastes... et cetera

If you're a Gungeon/Isaac fan, this has essentially the same core concept as those games, but the gameplay overall is 3X faster

Pros:
+ Can run on a piece of driftwood with a paperclip in it
+ Not too difficult to get started, although you should expect to be dying a lot as a noob to begin with
+ Runs pick up/end very quickly; if you die quickly, you've probably never wasted more than 5 minutes. A solid L0 throne kill run can take 10 minutes or less.
+ You are able to install mods for this game if you'd like; there is also a mod that adds online co-op
+ Good replayability if you want to unlock all crowns/starter weapons

Cons:
- Each run can be relatively short and it lacks as much variation as Gungeon or other games, so it may get repetitive quickly to where you can only play it in bursts
~ Game framerate is locked at 30FPS by default, but if you hate looking at that, there's a method to run it at 60FPS or more: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1397456507

Otherwise, Nuclear Throne is one of my favorite games of all time, and I hope that with this sale, more people will play it

P.S: Fish can roll
