Konkan Coast Pirate Solutions is visually cozy, intellectually satisfying, and thoroughly heartfelt.

The programming/simulation style puzzle mechanics are easy to learn and a joy to explore. Few puzzle games can rival the catharsis of perfectly planning a solution before watching your ships sail around exactly as they should.

The game is elegantly constructed from top to bottom. Its diegetic UI and minimalist aesthetic make for a pleasant visual experience, while its mechanics build at a perfect pace to stay intuitive while remaining stimulating and challenging.

The developer's passion shines though in the writing as well as the structure of the content, with occasional bonus stages sprinkled in that showcase neat mechanical interactions included for the sole purpose of sharing interesting ideas with the player.

Short and sweet, original, and a love letter to indie puzzle games, Konkan Coast Pirate Solutions is an instant favorite and a brilliant debut by a solo dev; I'll be keeping an eye out for the next release!

This is a delightfully creative twist on a legendary game that yields surprisingly balanced and deep strategic gameplay.

The multiverse time-travel isn't just a gimmick that leads to degenerate tactics; it's a meaningful mechanical addition that fundamentally alters the analytical practice of playing the game while leaving its abstract tenets untouched. Although the basic movement of the pieces is preserved in 2D, the values of and relationships between the pieces - even on just a single timeline - are completely redistributed. Even so, the game manages to maintain familiar conceptual themes from classical chess (which may or may not surprise you), and the extension of each piece's behavior into 5D is impressively satisfying and intuitive (as much as can be expected).

As you progress up the initial learning curve (which is intimidating but certainly tractable), you discover a rich and exciting possibility space that (if you're a big nerd like me) is an absolute joy to explore. The gratification of that journey is much better experienced than explained, so regardless of your history with the original, I urge you to try this for yourself.

An absolute gem from a the golden age of "edu-tainment". I loved it as a kid and it holds up as an adult, though I'm not sure how big a role nostalgia-goggles play in that evaluation. Ran without any issues.
