Very well designed. It has been a good few years since I finished TTP, but I felt that this brought the spirit of its puzzles to life while being more light-hearted. Not especially difficult to figure out for someone familiar with how the beams work, but the other types of puzzles added welcome variety to the experience and in a three-player game, finding the last couple of optional tokens had us scratching our heads until we started wondering if we had lost a crucial item and looked up the solution.

After spending 50 hours in the demo, this was a rare but easily decided day-one purchase for me. I don’t play survival games much but I love the atmosphere in this one. The option to hide your current position from the map and navigate using only the compass and landmarks adds a lot to the immersion. Looking forward to narrative content and seeing more varied biomes and animals.

I recommend waiting. The game has nice graphics, multiple engaging choices and fun combat, and the story so far is okay. But it’s also still bug-riddled even in Act 1 despite a long time in early access, and the user interface is terrible and under-explained, so if you’re on the fence or waiting for a sale, I would advise you to keep doing that and hope for quality of life upgrades.

I’m sure this will turn into a positive review eventually, but so far I don’t find that the game deserves an Overwhelmingly positive rating or warrants its price tag for what still feels like an in-development title.

Nice and lengthy DLC with several locations to explore and clear, some wicked soulbound weapons to find and good loot to be gotten in general, new challenging enemies and meaningful choices to make (as well as ripples from choices made in the base game in a couple places). I’m not sure how well this would integrate with a fresh run of the game since you can easily sink several hours inside the White March and going back to take care of business at Caed Nua and elsewhere kind of felt like a distraction/chore to me, but it worked well as a standalone expansion to play through after everything else (though it’s a shame you have to load a save from before completing the main story).

Felt shorter than part one, and a lot more combat-focused. The conflict felt huge but was ultimately resolved in a few conversations, creating a sort of disconnect between the scope of the DLC’s story and its actual duration. The plot was interesting nonetheless, the new locations interesting to explore and the battles quite challenging (for my solo run anyway).

After finishing two full runs through this game (one solo), it’s fair to say I warmly recommend it. Even though it uses its own RPG mechanics, it feels very faithful to the classic RTwP experience of Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale, except with modern graphics and UI.

I really can’t find much to fault in it except perhaps the frequency of loading screens in towns and indoor areas. The music is immersive, the art is consistently nice, the numerous side quests are impressively diverse and inspired to the point where I kind of want to borrow them for my own tabletop campaigns... and there is certainly no lack of content and lore to lose yourself in for hours upon hours and fun builds to try for a new run or three.

The game runs like ♥♥♥♥. The cars handle like ♥♥♥♥. The developers treat their fans like ♥♥♥♥. They managed to turn me sour on a franchise that made quite an impression on me as a child and that I would otherwise consider a cult classic.

(Review based mostly on the demo and Prologue)

A very beautiful and relaxing game, yet requiring a good deal of forward thinking if you want to optimize your score and outcome. The unlimited time to think but limited turns per season combine into a nicely challenging, but still cozy, puzzle. Or you can fully chill with the creative mode (which I haven’t tried yet).

The game at release could still use some polishing. The tutorial has been improved from the demo, but many things are still unclear in practice and require a good deal of experimentation to figure out. There are still some glitches with tile placement and the translations (including English) still need some editing. But at this price, the game is well worth it and I don’t regret buying it right away to help fund continued improvements, especially better Linux/Steam Deck support.

- Delightful dialogues and characters, excellently voiced.
- A very intricate mystery that unravels naturally, creating new questions every time it provides answers and allowing you to piece parts of the plot together before providing the full explanation and evidence.
- Very enjoyable puzzle design, with all clues accessible nearby and fairly easy to reason out with a bit of time.
- Unobtrusive music that judiciously sets the mood for the various locations, characters and events.
- A fairly intuitive UI, though I would have appreciated a few more explicit indications of how each element works.

Overall, an extremely satisfying 6 hours that’s up there with my favorite point and click games and, like Detective Grimoire before it, surprises me with how much I can enjoy a murder mystery. I’m eager for more!

I'll have to go against the flow on this one and say no. The game doesn't give you nearly enough information for you to make educated tactical decisions in the tactical parts and character building, and the interface is kind of awkward and inconvenient in so many ways. The story seems to have potential but I just can't be bothered to continue.
