The second installment in the most expansive and immersive grand strategy series ever created, Crusader King II has offered players endless opportunity to influence world history for nearly 700 years. Although often criticized for the daunting amount of paid DLC, longtime fans of the series tend not to begrudge the cost because of the voluminous amount of extra content each DLC adds to the game, unlike some other franchises that rely on paid DLC (cough, EA, cough). The beauty of Crusader Kings II is the endless replayability. Even with the exact same starting conditions, no two games are identical.

The replayability doesn't end with the randomness of the game's brilliant AI. The tireless modding community added countless quality of life mods and numerous full conversion mods that allow players to enter their favorite fantasy world - whether it be Westeros, Faerun, post-apocalyptic America, the ancient world, Tamriel, the Warhammer world, or many others. The dedication of the modding community is awe inspiring.

At this point, the base game is free, so really, how can trying it out hurt?
