There's something here that's definitely worth checking out. The first half of the game is really intriguing, I love the detective/survival aspect that it delivers. Some moments stuck out in my mind that, avoiding spoilers, kept this game's mystery interesting through out. The tiny horror elements really kept it together too, I loved that.

All that being said, this mainly accounts for the first half of the game. The second half feels far more incomplete, maybe even out of place. It feels to me as though the action element of the game wasn't as fleshed out as it was supposed to be. The final showdown just adds to that feeling. I felt as though there was little point for half of the inventory I was carrying with myself throughout the game. There were almost no encounters to use the weapons I were carrying. I can understand that the action wasn't the focal point of the game, but if it's there, then make some use of it.

One of the few games I'm on the fence about leaving a solid review on. I'll say this - try it out, explore as much you seem fit (and there will be some very intriguing parts!), but don't put too much hopes on being wow'ed by the end of it all. It's not that long of a game anyways. Give it a shot!

In a time when games feel so formulaic and a truly unique story/gaming experience is hard to find, Outer Wilds trembles with imagination, beauty, wit and excitement.

You know that game? That one game, that stays in memory for so long after playing, you can't stop thinking about it? That one game, that makes you feel so many different emotions just reminiscing about it? A game you wish to forget just to replay once more and relive the first-hand experience? Outer Wilds is just that.

It's hard to write a review about a game which knowing less about makes more exciting. All I can say is that this game is a rollercoaster of emotions. Definitely out of the ordinary. Go in blind as a mole and you'll take the most out of it.

I now fear space.

I'm kind of disappointed with this. On itself, this game is fine, but after checking out Torchlight 2, the flaws in this game become hard to ignore. My goal was to finish this game, so I could hardcore dive into TL2 knowing, that I've tried the previous installment. But by the end of my walkthrough, I was just mellow and waiting for the game to end. And the ending, oh boy...

OK, this sounds like an extremely bitter review, but listen me out. I rate games by the the way I feel after finishing them. If I have more positive memories than negative, I leave a positive review, and vise versa. That being said, you'll love this game if you love Diablo. The gameplay's very similar and even the soundtrack is made by Matt Uelmen, the person behind Diablo II's soundtrack! My main gripe with this whole experience is the lack of consistency throughout the campaign and it's difficulty.

I'm not a person who loves to grind for XP or gold in similar videogames, but I still spend a considerable amount of time exploring bonus dungeons or completing side quests, if they seem to benefit me and look fun. But every single side mission (except one in particular) just follows the same path as your main quest does, so you never even have to go off the beaten track to complete them, which honestly seemed very lazy to me. The exception was the portal side quest, which only teleported you to a random dungeon to acquire some artifact. What's the difference between this one and the other ones? There isn't any. You just appear on a dungeon which has a set amount of floors, so you don't actually progress in the storyline whilst playing it.

And what is up with the huge deviation between enemy strength in this game? Every single boss (except Ordrak, but that deserves a seperate segment on its own) was ridiculously easy to beat, whilst the general monsters in the dungeon give you so much more trouble. Not to mention the difficulty gaps on the bonus portal scrolls you can teleport into, which have enemies far higher than your level and supply no worthwhile rewards after beating them. Well, sometimes you find a 'unique' weapon, which, oddly enough, doesn't even feel unique by the end of the game, for all of your current equipment feels so much stronger.

**Noted, I did play this game on hard difficulty. But this final boss is INEXCUSABLE, not even on the difficulty I've been playing at.

So, you've come this far, you've reached the final floor of the dungeon to find Ordrak - this collosal creature of dark ember energy or... whatever. Keep in mind, this whole game has been leading up to this battle, so you imagine this'll be pretty epic, right? Well, it's not. It's actually... absurdly stupid. As every previous boss was a piece of cake, taking only 3-6 minutes to beat, Ordrak is a BEHEMOTH OF DAMAGE ABSORPTION. I have NO IDEA who's idea was it to make Ordrak so time consuming and such a pain to beat, but dang, they've done their job. Not to mention the array of maybe 3 or 4 moves that he had, which made him so boring to fight and, by the end of it, I harddddcoooore just cheese'd him. I spent atleast half an hour blasting this crystal ♥♥♥♥ with everything I had, respawning for maybe 5-6 times until I finally downed him. I bet he accumulated all of the damage I've delt to all the previous bosses, times 3, 'cause this was a TASK, like HOLY MOLEY. And finally, what's my reward?!

Some chick pops out from the portal to say 'thanks'.

What.

The.

♥♥♥♥.

I hate to give this game a negative review, but it's got so much bad going for it, I can't give it a thumbs up.

To give an introduction, this game is all about building a team to fight terrorists. The further you get in to the campaign, the better your team gets and the stronger your foes are. It's an interesting twist on Counter-Strike, a gimick worth trying out for sure. On the surface, you've got a solid, casual game, but as you delve into the more dificult settings (which, I mean, if you've ever played Counter-Strike, you will), the problems become hard to ignore.

First of all - the AI is ludicrously stupid. And I mean STUPID. It's the worst feeling knowing that most of the rounds lay on your back, even if your 3-4 teammates are against one guy. I'd give it a pass generally, but this game was released back in March of 2004. Soon after on November of 2004 you had Half-Life 2, a game with remarkable AI. I refuse to believe this game couldn't have solved some of the incredibly broken AI features, such as:
stopping defusal close to completion when you see a small part of an enemy hitbox;
walking backwords into areas and not paying mind to your surroundings;
soon after the bomb is planted, running to an opposite bombsite (like B) after your teammate said the bomb carrier was on another (like A);
throwing nades randomly;
camping the bomb from weird, obscure, far away angles;
not being able to see through transparent, shoot-through railings;
walking around obscure parts of the map, ignore the main goal;
and so on...
This game has got too much going wrong with the AI to give it a pass, especially when it's such an integral part of the game. Anything below expert handles well, the AI doesn't give you an aneurysm, but expert does. Not to mention the challenges, which become luck oriented on later levels. Finish the round in 45 seconds? Sure, just hope all the bots stack up on your location and don't decide to sit around an area. Kill 3 guys with a Scout and don't die? Sure thing, unless you pick off only one and you're left alone against a .1 second reaction team, which knows your position. The bots are dumb, but in the end - they're accurate. Don't think it'll be cakewalk carrying your whole squad against a squad of expert bots.

Calling this bad and telling you to not play it would be wrong from my part, because I still enjoy it. After all, you probably didn't buy it and just have it in your library, so give it a go. A piece of advice would be to try hard dificulty first and then go for expert, just so you get to enjoy it first, then kinda grind it later. Trust me - the worst feeling is watching the bots ruin a round you were sure to win. You've got to play just to experience that.

Also, screw Cutter.

A short, yet exciting game with a simple premise. Seems hard and exhausting at first, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes super rewarding and fun to play. A must try!

Quite frankly very disappointing, especially after having tried the latter games.

The whole appeal of the Hitman games seem to not take any place in this first game. If you enjoy Hitman for the ability to complete the objectives any way you want, then this game is a no go. It's all run and gun or crazy violence. It's got a linear path you HAVE to follow, maybe one other which also resolves into shootouts. From the first mission you'll be greeted with the target guarded by like 8 bodyguards, who won't go nowhere, so your only solution is to move in with force or shoot with a sniper from the rooftops. Both result in the guards entering a firespree with 47.

It's not the Hitman you imagine. It's just an arcadey shooter. It's cool to try out, but not worth full price. Get it discounted if you want to experience this game.
