Very fun game which i think offers the best RTS experience of a WW1 setting to date.

Combat is quick and very deadly, every decision needs to be properly thought through. Sacrificing many men is often times the only way to achieve victory, but the core of the game is risk management: Is it really worth it to push further than this trench? Sure, you might cripple the enemy, but chances are you'll just send your men to die in front of your enemy's reserves' machine guns. Or is it really a good idea to reinforce this position? You might prevent a breakthrough, but maybe it'd be a better idea to let your enemy overextend themselves. Dilemmas like these are common in every battle, It's a balancing act of cost/benefit, which makes for very engaging gameplay.

I think it does a great job at conveying just how difficult and deadly combat during WW1 was. It rewards a conserving, cautious playstyle while punishing too much aggression. That doesn't mean that aggression isn't viable, you just have to be very careful when to go on the offensive.

Sadly, there are some bugs. Most notably for me, a game breaking bug where the AI will send a ceasefire offer, which just won't terminate the battle, locking you into an endless standoff. I'm sure it'll be fixed soon, though.

All in all, I recommend this game. Especially for history nerds.
