I cannot currently recommend this game for $54.99, as it just lacks the features and depth for that kind of price tag.

IMPORTANT
As of the end of October, the devs have revealed that they will no longer be fixing issues for the game in two months. Dropping support for your first entry, especially when you charge just about the same amount as a AAA title after just a few months, is no way to keep, or get new players. Vote with your wallet, DO NOT BUY THE 2023 VERSION OF THIS GAME.

Pros:
The graphics are pretty if that's your thing, however more often than not you'll probably end up in the map view skipping ahead in time.

Everything is officially licensed which means we get the real drivers (including F2 and F3), tracks, and other support staff.

Car development can be very in depth, and you can seemingly (I hope this is true) develop your car in a very specific manner to your liking.

Cons:
Tires are currently a mess. The delta between softs and mediums is 0.1 seconds, and from softs to hards it is only 0.3 seconds. With more realistic wear characteristics, this means that softs are almost NEVER useful. *THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN FIXED HOWEVER I WILL LEAVE THIS HERE AS A MEANS TO RECORD THE HISTORY OF THE IMPROVEMENTS/FIXES OF THE GAME*

AI behavior tends to be very erratic, and as if the cars are on rails rather than driving on the track. I'm guessing this has something to do with the physics engine. Driver strategy is also a mess. the AI doesn't know how to properly respond to wet weather or SC and VSCs.

All drivers (yours included) will make stupid, nonsensical mistakes and/or decisions. I had a driver slow down at the end of the straight to let a competitor come out of the pitlane and overtake, despite me purposely going for an undercut. The best explanation for this seems to be that the back-end calculations are represented as best as possible by the graphics, so what we see on screen can sometimes be missleading.

DRS is absolutely broke. With the amount of DRS zones and the advantage that they give, two cars slipstreaming and getting DRS off of each other can make up almost 1.5 seconds per lap to a car without DRS. This makes playing a slower team an incredibly frustrating experience in the first season, and CANNOT persist if this game wants longevity.

Final Thoughts:
I hold on to faith that this game will eventually be good, but a while back I told myself I would never buy another early access game again. In my opinion, this game is in early access, which is unfortunate because many of the features many people are looking for will likely end up in the 2023 rendition of the game. I really hope that Frontier prove me wrong, and I will continue to play the game in hopes that it will improve, and that the proper resources will go into fixing this game, rather than just fixing issues and adding features for the next one.

Incredible game that is absolutely worth picking up. As of writing this review I have only completed a 3 chapter story line, but plan on this being a new regular to play both by myself and with friends for a long time to come.

This is honestly one of the coolest games I've played in a while that actually kept me hooked without doing anything too flashy. Although it took me under 45 minutes to actually complete the game it was a lot of fun.
