For a few years I have spent my time alone on a portal mod that didn't have a completely concrete direction. Over the few years, I got to share this interesting mod with a lot of friends, getting feedback, and kept getting more inspired and ambitious. Eventually, coming to a point where I had to form a team to get more help with polishing my project. I'm always encouraging creativity with the people who are helping me out with the mod. My level detailers have gone above and beyond, especially with Fiffle, who continues to put in so much work, which I'm very thankful.

When working with others, there are so many ideas that can get shuffled around, scrapped, and tweaked. What makes a project bumpy, is that there's not always a first agreement, but in order to move forward, there has to be a final decision. While it can be a painful process, it can be a potential rewarding process, to see people consume and give their feedback on your work. At some point I wanted Portal Ambition to have a system like Metroid. Chell would go around, get upgrades for her ASHHPD, upgrades for her leg springs, and more. Though too ambitious, the idea of being able to explore the facility was kept to an extent.

What I find about creating Portal mods, or just sourcemods in general, is that there's a lot of self criticizing in your own work. Personally, I think this is because of the sourcemodding community, and how there is an unhealthy expectation of mods to go above and beyond, or meet the expectation of the people who are closely watching the project. The community could be less toxic, thankfully, I have not been involved, but I have seen a lot of internal and external drama surrounding projects. Is it too stupid and childish to ask for people to get along? I find that this unhealthy environment is also one of the biggest reasons why projects get shut down, and people lose motivation and inspiration. We could do better as a sourcemodding community!
