I liked this more than Elden Ring.
It has the tight level design of Bloodborne, the parry mechanic of Sekiro a coherent narrative you can actually follow and a charm all to its own credit.
It is difficult, but it feels fair, as you have more than enough options available to you, be it a dodge, a parry a block or simply overpowering the enemy (with or without help from an optional AI partner during boss fights)

Runs and looks amazing on Steam Deck OLED BTW

You really have no reason not to play this.

Incredible little gem of a game. If you need a good platformer in the style of Megaman X, don't let this one slip you by. Can't believe this is their first game, it just oozes quality and passion - the music is full of bangers as well.
If this is their Megaman 1, then we all know how legendary their Megaman 2 is going to be.

*You open an enormous gate, revealing a huge gothic corridor that is filled to the absolute brim with gore, blood and corpses. What took place here must have been the worst slaughter imaginable, the murderous intent is still palpable in the air. As you step forward, the smell of burnt flesh and smoking bolt casings attack your senses, a single sentence escapes your lips*

"Oh, I have been here before."

Aside from missing a few glaring nice-to-haves, this game is pretty solid.

The difficulty options are surprisingly deep and lets you tailor the experience to your own preferences. I gave the "heat" mechanic a chance, as I guess the game difficulty is balanced around that, but after turning heat generation down to 50%, I feel like the combat becomes a lot more fun and dynamic (being able to dash and then shoot, without overheating, etc).

It is a good deal for its full price, but there is no rush to play it here and now if you can wait.
Put it in the wine-cellar and allow the devs to improve further upon it before you pop it open.

Just came out of nowhere and is extremely well made. Early GOTY contender 2023.

2024 update:
Microsoft leadership are absolutely incompetent. There is no reason for Tango Gameworks to be shuttered - this game, their latest output, was amazing.

The core gameplay loop was always fun, it just needed maps and a fix to the botched progression system.
The recent "Winter Update" fixes both of those for me. There are more, better maps, and you gain XP at a far faster rate than before.
It is a solid 8/10 now, worth your time for free.
