Creative use of older assets and the huge DW/SW cast to make an entertaining rogue-like with a lot of freedom in builds and abilities. I would have liked a bit more depth as the game is really simple with few enemies and levels with most of the variety coming from the huge cast and the various team combos. It's also really unfortunate that the ultimate weapons are so powerful--giving your character a second perk--but extremely rare or expensive and the grind to get them for your fav characters is tedious. Given the price point though and good core mechanics I can still recommend this one easily.

you've experienced the power fantasy of annihilating soldiers by the thousands in past musou games, now experience that again but with more focus on storytelling with a really satisfying re-vamped, more complex combat system AND also experience the power fantasy of being a cute sleepy-looking twink that literally everyone (i mean everyone) wants to bang while also living with a cute femboy doctor

Absolutely brilliant and thought-provoking game that had me mulling it over in my head and chatting with friends for weeks, thinking about my own upbringing as a second-gen Asian immigrant. The Nier and other influences are undeniable but the direct connection to current day society and in turn my own life was something I haven't really experienced before, especially in a sci-fi setting like this.

The game is almost like a 3D visual novel and light on gameplay but I will note that some of the sequences running around talking to everyone got to be tedious. They're technically optional but skipping them means missing out on a lot of story and dialogue (though the recent map update should help a bit, or the amazing fan map posted in the guides section).

Most importantly though I'll note that this game was very upsetting. I pushed through and couldn't put it down but I felt viscerally upset and almost sick for many parts of it. I love it overall but I think the game's key flaw is that it doesn't really know how to take its foot off the gas and any vaguely happy moments are just steeped in upsetting and otherwise depressing context, while the bulk of the story itself is far from uplifting.

That being said I'm really glad I played it and highly recommend it overall.

Worth the wait after the demo drop! The effects and gameplay are reminiscent of the og FEAR game but with more modern features like weapon upgrades/customization (and a girl MC which is always a big plus for me) and of course the retro GZDoom aesthetic, though it's easy to forget sometimes it's Doom-based with how detailed the graphics and effects can be. Comfortably challenging and very satisfying, especially the gnarly gib and blood effects on kill.

Also crazy how much fun I've had neurotically carrying a multimeter around each level searching for secrets lol I'm positive I've spent more time doing that than actually fighting and progressing through the game normally.

Absolutely phenomenal game combining Playstation-era graphics with an unsettling cyberpunk setting and a surprisingly human and emotional story. I'm not even the hugest fan of the genre (many influences from which Signalis wears on its sleeve) but could not put this one down. After finishing it I went and read the King in Yellow while discussing the story for weeks with a friend. Highly recommend! tldr: cute anime lesbians in sci-fi Silent Hill
