3 hrs in: Might be premature, but here's my experience so far.
Space is cold, vast and largely empty. The Outer Wilds is the direct opposite of that.

In here, space is just your next-door neighbor.
The next planet is just a couple of minutes away.
Every other explorer is playing music, sending signals.
Relics and records of the [redacted] are scattered across the solar system.
All of these elements remind me that I'm not alone.

Every supernova feels like the end of something good.

There's a difference between telling a story and talking about the story.

Sony region locked this game up until yesterday, treating their only successful live service game like dirt. This is the last Sony published game I will ever buy.
