TL;DR: Heart and Seoul is a short slice-of-life about a getaway house-sitting for a relative. It had so much potential, but poor writing and static character sprites with only one facial expression make this visual novel (VN) fall below the quality of many FREE visual novels on steam.
I can't recommend buying this when there's several free VN's with better writing, better art, and more features. Still, if you can grab it bundled or on sale, it does have some good moments.

PROS
Nice soundtrack
Nice sound effects that are relevant to the story - door bell chimes, phone rings, etc

NEUTRAL
You're not able to take screenshots in Ren'Py, but the dev posted a workaround in a different game, here: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/app/416630/discussions/0/492378806374551762/
The Art Gallery exhibit was a nice idea, but 4 paintings seemed way too short for an artist's exhibit.
Writing has a lack of continuity, the characters seem to contradict themselves in places. example: Kim Yoon-Ji says "I'm house sitting for 5 days" then later says "I'm staying here for the summer" -- Wait, what? Is your "summer" is only 5 days long?
There is a match-3 game in the story that you must play 3 times, and there is no skip option for it. I didn't mind it and found it was actually enjoyable to play, my objection is that there is no in-game benefit to playing it. It would have been nice to see Kim Yoon-Ji "earn her tips" bartending for the evening based on how well you did in the mini-game, then have later story choices limited by the amount of cash she has to spend. Better match-3 success = better tips / more money = more choices later on. I also think a "skip" option should be available for those who don't enjoy such games.
It's not voiced. This didn't matter to me, but might matter to some.

CONS
There's no steam overlay.
There's no CG gallery.
There is a log, but the typeface and the background graphic make it really hard to read.
Characters have only one static pose and one facial expression - no matter if you are having the time of your life together or if you are coldly dumping a guy after he declared his love for you, his expression never changes. I've seen far better quality on free VN's, the fact that you've charged for this is inexcusable poor quality.
The characters never change clothes for the entire 5 days of the story. Whether they are going to work, going out clubbing, going on a sightseeing tour, going to a museum exhibit, or going to confess their love to a girl - they always wear the same outfit. It really ruins my immersion in the story when the characters don't change clothes for 5 days AT ALL.
The game requires a LOT of clicking for such a short story. Every page has only a short sentence - sometimes only a single word, and you have to click through many pages read all of the characters speech. It would be much easier to read if you put all four short sentences the character was saying on a single page, but then it would be much more obvious how short the story actually is.
I found the writing style has promise, but was still rough around the edges. I feel the author could benefit most from working on "show don't tell", as far too many things are TOLD to you, rather then shown.
The biggest negative for me was the complete lack of character development, which meant I didn't really care about the characters.
Kim Yoon-Ji (the main character) isn't very detailed or thought out well. It's said she graduated university 2 years ago with business and communication degree, but she's been tending bar and working at cafes because economy is bad and she hasn't found a better job. However, it's never detailed what kind of job she actually wants, what she was going to do with the degree (her "dream job"), what her career goals actually are, or what she desires in life.
There are 2 male love interests, but neither one of the guys really had a developed personality so it was hard to feel anything for them, or care about their characters. Their characters seemed more like trope outlines.
Insta!Love. The male characters fall in love with your character SO FAST! I do understand it's a short VN taking place over 5 days, but even if I felt a major connection to a person I would not feel comfortable declaring my love after only a week. Asking someone you've met and have feelings for to stay in the area, helping them get a job and find an apartment - yes, that's totally logical to offer them. This "romance" felt somewhat forced and unreal, because I didn't have time to develop a connection with any of the characters and BAM they're in LOVE! The characters lacked enough development to stand out and individuals, as well as connect to each other. It just didn't seem like they even really knew each other well before they jumped to declaration of love.
- Park Hyun-Woo (dark hair, serious, architect assistant) says "I love you" after only knowing you for 5 days.
- Lee Seok-Jin (blond hair, wacky, DJ) says " Dam girl, you really got moves!" after you make love for the first time. (yes, it's actually misspelled in the game like that)
It's been mentioned in many other reviews, but it bears repeating - at the start of the game, you're told how this is supposed to be an AUTHENTIC Korean setting. Then you are treated to several minutes of a non-skippable club scene with pretty much only white people. I saw only one Asian male in the club scene. It's annoying and really breaks the mood of the game. Although there were mention of some Korean foods, there was also "No one does breakfast like the Americans." Overall it didn't feel like it was a story from Korea, it felt like it was a story written by foreigners about what they thought Korea *might* be like.

TRADING CARDS / BADGES
The badges are buildings. The emotes are black and white artwork, and they display clearly. The backgrounds are 2 character backgrounds and one muted city background.

VALUE FOR THE MONEY
Poor. There are FREE VN's that offer more both in terms of a longer story that is internally consistent and in characters who are better developed and have many varied facial expressions that match the events of the story as it unfolds.
You're better off reading any number of other quality free VNs before you spend money for this.

It's a simple path finding puzzle, but it's very relaxing. One of the more interesting things to me is how there's multiple ways to solve each level. I found it fun not just to solve a level - but to try and find a different way to solve it.
The music is pleasant but not overbearing.
It's also a source of easy achievements and another 100% game, if that's your thing.

TL;DR: I love arctic survival games - but Distrust: Polar Survival is a lesson in how NOT to make an arctic survival game. Distrust is supposed to be a game about surviving in arctic conditions - yet once you figure out how to manage your resources, you'll find the biggest challenge is surviving the many bugs like dropped connections and lost inventory.

PROS
I love arctic survival games, where you are not just fighting to survive but where the harsh conditions of the environment itself is killing you. If this doesn't describe what you enjoy playing, I'd advise you to stop right now and pass on this game.
There's a variety of characters to unlock, and every team you build can have a different focus based on the team member's strengths and weaknesses.
Each level is randomly generated, so there is a lot of replay value.
Achievement Hunters will find that some achievements are skill based, and oddly those are the easier ones to get.

NEUTRAL
The music isn't award winning, but it does fit in well with the scenes.

CONS
There are no save points or checkpoints, the game auto saves at random intervals. There is a "save & go to main menu" option; which is annoying considering how slow the game is to load.
The alien 'anomalies' were either a minor annoyance or invulnerable, there wasn't really a middle ground. Type 1 is defeated with light, type 2 is defeated with heat, type 3 is defeated with an anomaly trap. For me, type 4 was nigh invulnerable. It's been suggested that you can shoot type 4's, but I haven't had any success with this. The second a type 4 gets you in their sight your character is paralyzed and cannot take any action. I found the game balance of the antagonists to be poorly scaled.
Moving onto the determining reason my review is negative. This game is buggier then a broken ant farm atop spilled honey. I've played Distrust on a Windows desktop PC, 2 different iMacs, and a Mac Book & I can confirm the bugs are cross-platform. Most of the bugs I'm about to discuss have been reported in the forums as far back as 2017, sometimes multiple times/threads, yet most bugs are still not fixed. Also, this isn't ALL the bugs I experienced, but it appears there is a max length of reviews so I had to cut some bug reports.
Random crashes are both random and annoying. This is where the game save problem becomes annoying. When you have Cloud Saves enabled, if you're lucky you'll only lose 10 minutes of game play and have to do the level over. Sometimes, the option to 'continue' a game is grayed out and you'll be starting over. When you are working for achievements, I find it's better to disable Steam Cloud Saves and save the game yourself.
In single player, sometimes not all of your party moves to the next zone. Despite all standing inside the gate circle, once in the next zone a team mate may appear outside the map, left behind in the last zone.
When you enter zone 6, the zone transition is quite poor. Sometimes I have found all my survivors were paralyzed and unable to move, and sometimes I could not side scroll to reach the helicopter. Both bugs were usually fixed by a manual save & restart.
This game is not "story rich". It's just a management sim, nothing more. The only time you will actually have time to appreciate the "story" is if you manage to luck into the invulnerability bug. I experienced this once. After one of it's many crashes, I restarted the game and was able to continue with just Mary - then I noticed her stats weren't going down. The invulnerability bug makes it impossible to achieve the 'hesitation' achievement, 1 of the 3 possible endings. Other people have mentioned the invulnerability bug in the forums, and I can confirm it continues to happen and has not been fixed since being reported years ago.
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME FOR CO-OP PLAY. Co-op game play was added post-release, and at it's best is buggy and unpolished. If you want to play co-op with pals, be ready for a frustrating experience.
Your internet speed/stability and who hosts the game does not seem to matter, your connection will still be dropped. Usually you can rejoin the game, but sometimes 'continue'/'rejoin' will be grayed out. That can usually be fixed by the game host sending you an invitation to join. When you can rejoin a co-op game, you rejoin with an empty inventory. Usually, your inventory is in a bag somewhere nearby. If you are in a building, "nearby" can include your inventory bag appearing inside a locked room. Other times, all your inventory items are lost forever and you're out of luck. This can be crippling at the later levels, and it's no fun to die because of dropped connections causing you to lose all your supplies.
Speaking of co-op play - to transfer items you must drop them and the other player can pick them up. However, you have to drop ALL your stacked items - meaning, if you have 3 first aid kits and want to give the other plays one - there's no way to do that. You have to drop all 3 first aid kits, have your co-op pal pick them up, then the co-op pal can use a first aid kit, then they drop the 2 remaining first aid kits that you have to pick up.
Then there's the tools, which have their own separate part of inventory. Tools cannot be shared in co-op mode, you can't even drop them. Once you pick them up they are yours forever, even when they break.
There is a zone transition that requires carrying 3 heavy sacks onto a loading platform to pass. I experienced a bug where as long as s/he held the sack on her shoulder, s/he did not die - even with no health, no warmth, no stamina, and no satiety. The second s/he dropped the sack, s/he collapsed and went into a coma. One play through the game crashed on zone transition, and when I 'continue' game, s/he appeared in the next zone with all stats at zero and the sack on her shoulder. The sack did 'disappear' on the transition to the next zone.
Achievement Hunters be warned - quite a few achievements are random. I hope the RNG favors you, otherwise you will be grinding over and over and over again, constantly hoping to "get lucky" to get the random achievements.
In 95+ total hours of game play, I got the "Occult enlightenment" madness once. ONCE. I believe I got it at around 70 hours of game play. Perhaps I was just really unlucky, but that's a LOT of game play for one random achievement.
... and finally, I'd like to discuss the rarest achievement in the game - collecting the 5 pieces of the lucky ticket. I was around 94 hours and I had only 2 more achievements to earn, coffeeman & lucky ticket. I'd pretty much resigned myself that if I hadn't got the last ticket piece by 100 hours of game play, I was just going to accept that I wasn't going to get 100% in the game. I was working on the coffeeman achievement (eat coffee beans 50 times). I'd been playing Olga, the only character who can find the ticket piece in the snowplow. While Olga & Emil were searching for & eating coffee beans, I had at least 4 crashes within 90 minutes of game play. I finally got the coffeeman achievement and I was feeling all happy and YAY! - then when I checked in Steam, I had got the lucky ticket achievement an hour before. Olga was in the party but I did not have the snowplow level transition; so it was impossible to have earned, even by accident. I received no notification of the lucky ticket achievement in game. I can't explain what happened, the only guess I have is that maybe it unlocked at/ during/ because of a crash?
Completing a game 100% should be a proud happy moment. With this situation, I feel sad and angry. I don't mind hard work and grinding for achievements - but to just get the rarest achievement out of nowhere, possibly because the game crashed? To say I'm upset is an understatement.

SUMMARY
Distrust had some great ideas, but the technical issues makes me feel that it wasn't worth the time I put into playing it.

This was a really short kinetic (no choices) VN, it takes about a half-hour to read.
Hana cuts class to stay home and play games, and she has difficulty being bullied and beaten by another student in school. Hana develops a crush on a girl she sees on the train, and becomes determined to meet her. They do meet, there is a misunderstanding, eventually things get sorted out and all ends well.

PROS
The story was about love and acceptance, and it had a beautiful message.
Achievement hunters will find 2 achievements here, which you should be able to get in under a minute if you hit "skip" and fast forward without reading.

NEUTRAL
There's an 18+ patch available on the dev's website, if you're so inclined.

CONS
It would be nice to see women drawn with more realistic sized chests.
I thought the music could have been a bit more suited to the scenes, it didn't always reflect the mood of the scene.

There were a few shortcomings but for the price, it was a cute read and I enjoyed it. Love Wins!

TL;DR - The lovely cat-themed tiles make this mahjong game fun to look at and the variety of layouts make it enjoyable to play. Two paws up!
8/10 stars

I adore cats and I like to play mahjong, so this was an insta buy for me.
I was very pleased with the gameplay, and I've continued playing long after I reached 100% achievements.

PRO
Lovely artwork is done in a cat theme - Tiles are beautifully done with cats, cat-erpillars, butterflies and flowers - a lovely change from the "classic" patterns you often see. A cat's eye gives you a hint, a cat paw shuffles the tiles, and a cat turning around undoes your last move.
There is a great variety of layouts across 120 boards, in a variety of shapes from classic layouts to hearts, arrows, etc.
I liked that the the unclickable tiles were greyed out / dimmed; without requiring some kind of power up.
Achievements made sense, there was no unpleasant grinding - you can be a casual gamer and enjoy relaxing fun while still making progress toward your goals.
Music is pleasant, it blends into the background without being annoying or distracting.
Family friendly, safe to play in front of or with little ones.

CON
There are controls to turn sfx and music on/off. It's an all-or-nothing deal though - it's ALL the sfx or NONE of the sfx - which is sad because some are cute and some start cute but become annoying. When you match a set of tiles there's a "meow" - it's cute for about the first 5 minutes, but grows increasingly annoying as the hours of gameplay. Ditto the hint button sfx - when you match a set of tiles, the hint button is removed for a few seconds, then it comes back with high/low sfx. I found that VERY grating; and wished there was a way to turn just that particular SFX off while keeping the other SFX on.
It would be nice to have a counter showing the available pairs of tiles to be matched. I've only seen that feature in one other mahjong game I've played, but I really liked it and wished more games would include it.

TRADING CARDS / BADGES
Trading cards are on the more expensive side to collect, but the badges are adorable. The emotes and backgrounds are cute as well.

VALUE FOR THE MONEY
Solid value. I found this game is great fun to play to take a break from a more immersive goal driven game, when you have a bit of free time, or just need some de stressing. I enjoyed collecting the achievements, but I've continued playing this game long after I reached 100%.

Steam's Spring Cleaning chose this game for me, and while it looked kinda sketchy I gave it a try ... and I regretted it.
Steam's Spring Cleaning is out of it's mind to think I would enjoy this .... "game".
The tags are even worse -- "psychological horror", "atmospheric", "adventure" - do players even know what these words mean?

I am now convinced the "escape this room" puzzles are absolutely not for me. If I was actually in this situation I wouldn't be running all over the place collecting seashells and feathers, I would have been using the fire to burn the walls down so I could run through the fire to escape rather then do these annoying puzzles and listen to that awful music loop over and over again.

I think the true fault lies with Steam for recommending this to me.
It was NOT entertaining and it was NOT worth what I paid for it (which was nothing).
Other players may enjoy this game, it's just totally not my thing.

I bought this game for the letter achievements, but I also appreciated that it was a reasonably quick 100% completion game.

Once the game started, I was pleasantly surprised - playing the game was more fun then I expected.
I'm not very skilled at this type of game, but I finished to 100% in 40 minutes. However, about half of that time was spent on level 28 as I missed again byjustthismuch ... Still, the fact that it had me playing (and laughing) through the frustration of watching my package bounce off in an unexpected direction earns it a thumbs up. Give it a try!

If you're playing for all the achievements in one session, you'll likely get bored of this real quick.

If you play it occasionally to pass a few spare moments, it's a fun game. Great little time waster.

As far as the actual game itself, I found it amusing to play for a few minutes. It quickly got boring though.

I can only recommend this if you want the letter achievements, the game really wasn't that entertaining. Even then, try to find it at a discount.
