It'd be cool for a game jam project, only it's not. I paid money for this. I paid money for a meme game made from memes, by memers for memers. I thought I could handle all of the memes coming at me--even the "WE'RE TOTALLY NOT MINECRAFT GUYS, HAVE A MINECRAFT MEME"--but then this happened.

Video review of fun game

Never ever.

It's a satisfying game filled with subtle (and sometimes annoying) game mechanics, on top of a lengthy single-player campaign filled with lots of hidden quests and not-so-hidden fetch board quests, which by the end of it will turn absurdly imbalanced in you and your party's favor. I would put a bunch of similar playing games right here, but almost every game anyone has ever compared it to is almost always wrong. It has mechanics similar to those games, but the amount that each aspect has spread out over the game makes it impossible to compare fairly. It's Shadow of the Monster Hunter: Skyrim, basically. You can argue that the combat has no "weight" to it, but the amount of stupid ♥♥♥♥ you can get away with doing because of it is extremely satisfying. This, along with a majority of the soundtrack (the only track I cannot stand is the generic overworld combat music--replace immediately), makes for some of the best moments I've ever experienced in a long time.

If you're not into intense grinding for the absolute best character/partner gear well after the main game is finished, this game might not be for you. You can explore and experiment the game over again without losing your charcter progress in New Game Plus and beyond, but will eventually discover all of the hidden side quests and special events. Beyond that, the interactivity mainly lies in creating your dream "Pawn" for other players to hire, who will pay you in rotten food and Riftbux to further enhance your pawn pimping.

If you're still reading reviews, wait for a sale because you're obviously still interested in it but can't justify the $30 for a three year old port. If you've played this game before but got burnt on the original release's pacing and frame-rate issues, you'll probably buy this game a third time, because they've fixed that issue and then some (I love the useless pawn chatter, but hey, disabling it's a feature now). For everyone else, just give CAPCOM your money; daddy needs a sequel.

There was a Quality On/Off button, but the game still sucked no matter what it was on.
