Kenshi has no objective, you spawn in weak and useless and the game makes sure you understand this. The graphics are bad and your squad will almost certainly be wiped out on your first play through. Despite this there is something enchanting about this game. While playing you might spend months in a slave labor camp and after all that barely escape with you life. But after training your squad through hundreds of battles there is no better feeling than returning to that camp to kill all those who enslaved you. The player is given no special treatment, much of the early game is running and hiding while on the brink of starvation. From here there are radically different to become stronger and a lot of them feel like cheesing the game (which I love). You could draw crowds of bandits to city gates to start brawls between them and the guards and then strip the equipment off the bandits. You could train stealth and rob stores and houses. You could load rocks in your backpack and walk around until your ridiculously strong. You could be boring and mine the ore deposits outside of towns. This sense of freedom is what I like most about Kenshi.

Play this game if:
- You like massive open world maps with faction relations
- You like grinding stats and being punished for little mistakes
- You like base building and setting up automated systems (like Rimworld)
- You find the graphics charming (seriously that's what the game looks like)

Don't play this game if:
- You need direction when playing a game
- You want a compelling narrative
- Your PC sucks
