Investigate this game as little as possible before buying, just know that it has plenty of truly unexpected twists and turns as it expertly plays with the idea of "sacrifice" as a core mechanic

This game is not my usual cup of tea (I generally don't go in for card games, and have never played the physical version) but it has utterly cast its spell on me.
Even without the physical game to compare it to, it's clear it could use a coat of polish. Gorgeous graphics and settings are paired with lackluster music and voice acting. I find myself constantly fighting with the UI, and while I respect not including an "undo" feature for tactical blunders in the game, watching a one hour deep session go awry because I clicked on an "x" instead of a check is truly awful.
But aside from that, my chief complaint is just that there isn't more of it to play. The core game is delightful and engrossing, and the campaigns last just long enough to really build up a solid party without dragging on or becoming boringly overpowered. I'd love to explore more of middle earth through this game.

Solid survival game. Crank the AC in the middle of summer, close the blinds, and be transported to a deadly frozen wonderland.

Vaguelly addicting but surprisingly empty. The end game-- if its possible to get there with the essentially random returns on investment you get for each game-- is only slightly more complex than the tutorial. Save your money.
