It's political "anti white man" narrative is so forced and heavy handed I couldn't get through the first 2 hours. I couldn't get invested in any of the characters, and the gameplay loop is so far streamlined it's like they should have kept it seperate from the franchise itself.
The breaching systems are so broken mechanically it takes all the challenge out of a map, there are no random soldiers (you pick 1 of 2 while recruiting) and as far as I could see there were no systems simillar to genemods, psi, or cybernetic trade off upgrades like in previous games.
I've played every xcom game since UFO. This isn't worth it for long time fans, maybe someone who isn't used to strategy games would have fun with this, but I sure as hell didn't.

Ignore the autismo reviews. Changing a few things like animated portraits, and the way the game's populations work keeps things fresh. These morons aren't even aware you can roll back game versions.
These are all coming from people with 200+ hours too, maybe they're just burnt out?
This game is such a satisfying 4x, haven't had this much fun since Masters of Orion and Civ 5.

Have no idea why this game has seemingly flown under the radar for a lot of people. This game's smart puzzles and stealth mechanics are on par with portal. Reminds me of the old days of gaming, lots of love put into this one. If you like puzzles, do yourself a favour and check it out.

I love this game, it gets a bad rep from salty people, but people forget that competitive games will have it's share of exploiters, trolls, and cry babys. I play both survivor and killer; it's great fun alone or with friends.
The gist of the mechanics:
A. 4 Survivors, and 1 killer.
B. Survivors objective is to power the 5 generators then head for the exit doors to escape scattered about the map, while the killer tries to eliminate each of them one by one.
C. Survivors perform quick time skill "events" while repairing generators, killer's objective is to "hook" players on hook structures around the map in order to "kill" them.
The best $20 I've spent in quite awhile.

I played through the first chapter, I don't know why but I REALLY wanted to like this one. Maybe because it's heartbreakingly Canadian and I feel like I'm betraying it for the ♥♥♥♥ I'm about to pull.
The Long Dark's selling point is survival in the wilderness, and it accomplishes that by making survival the most mundane and boring thing in the world. Half the time you're in the forested areas salvaging for wood ( not all rendered wood is salvageable for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason) to keep warm and the other half you're looking for food.
Throw on a really predictable plane crash that was ripped right from the script of "Lost" and "The Forest" and you've got a really boring story objective. The art style and scenery is nice to look at it, they definately did a good job, but it gets pretty bland about an hour or so in.

Tldr; Game tries to be "different" by incoperating "realism" but it just comes off as mundane and a chore. It felt more like a walking/freeze your ass of simulator than a survival game. Honestly only got through the first half of the game because I mistook Mark Meer's voice for Hayter's.

Very complex combos for a brawler, I also discovered through Skullgirls; brawler/fighter style games are no longer my forte, my fingers cannot keep up with the button mashing and I found myself overloaded at times with all the information on the mechanics the game throws at you in the tutorials.
Tldr: Complex Brawler, hard at times, worth a look on sale? Yes!

Long time MGS fan here,
I'd like to say this practice of developers using constant online DRM is absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, even if it is a co-op game.
MgsV had a simillar feature; but had an offline mode so that you could still play the single player elements while servers were down, you'd had rocky internet or whatever.
Survive for whatever reason constantly asks for this from EVERYONE. As the internet does not globally have a constant ping of 6 m/s at the time of writing this be prepared to get disconnected from matchmaking (with other players) A LOT and without warning from server maintence or other issues.
Single play works ok, but it's lack of UI options in comparison to mgsV: for some unknown reason we have less. We cannot update our idroid to provide us with more than one hud waypoint at any given time, we have to manage our base camp from the AI Pod in the center of camp. Which means if you deploy your soldiers on dispatch missions, expect to head back half way across the map to the nearest teleporter so that you can give them new orders every 15-20 minutes.
The stealth elements and combat are fun, but none of the metal gear humour is there. Don't expect to be sneaking around in cardboard boxes or any humours interactions from your crew.
The plot and writing is so bad it's probably the weakest "metal gear" of the entire series. There's even one point in the dialogue where the actor who plays "Reeve" actually trails off and awkwardly sighs (yes it's that bad the actors didn't even seem to want to continue!)
You navigate a pallarell world of mgsV's Afghanistan (and later a small localized Africa) called Dite. A dimension your avatar (an MSF survivor dubbed "The Captain") was transported to through a wormhole by a mysterious man named Goodluck. One of your main objectives in it's most basic form: is to survive.
You need to hunt, find food and water; rest when needed. Once you locate the AI Pod named Virgil, who tasks you with finding databases and anything or anyone, left behind by it's old unit: "The Charon Corps".
Game mechanics are lacking, not as fun as MgsV, less weapons (the majority of which are locked behind abysmall matchmaking systems.) and they've removed the ability to customize weapon parts and you are also unable to dismiss staff, no Idea why.

TLDR: Barebones MgsV with base defense and survival elements. CONSTANT online DRM. Will probably be my last metal gear "game".Tons of fun, especially with friends; but don't expect a traditional MGS. It's essentially a tower defense set in the MG universe with minor stealth elements.

When one company's pinnacle of writing, and producer's creative "magnum opus" culminates into one game; you get Skyrim. The fact they've rereleased this game onto every platform imagineable and STILL rerelease it six years after release without working on a new title really says something...Is it great, yes! Should I buy it? I'd grab the legendary edition if you still can; which includes all the dlc. I wouldn't touch the SE version with a ten foot digital pole...sure it's x64 bit and looks nicer in some aspects but no one wants to mod for it; and it's THE EXACT same game as it's original counter part. No added content except for the new coat of paint. You think after 6 years and 10+ rereleases we'd get a new quest or dlc... But instead they "give us" creation club. I'm pretty sure Skyrim will be Bethesda's greatest "acheivement" at this point. Todd Howard and Emile Pragrillo (or whatever the dude's last name is) cannot write decent plots for ♥♥♥♥ after this game came out.

They removed everything about "fallout". They gave us a lackluster voiced protagonist with a "puddle deep" story about a parent after the missing child.

Pros
*Shooting has been massively improved from Fallout 3 and New Vegas
* The free roaming sandbox
* Graphics have been massively improved

Cons
* AI is dumb as bricks. Still uses archaic "nav mesh" (an invisable grid) to navigate the game world. They've had this in their games since morrowwind.
* They've destroyed the perk system and roleplaying aspects. You no longer have alignment, no choice in situations and dialogue. You get 3 flavours of response: 1. "No but i'll do it anyway." 2."Yes, of course." and 3. "Sarcastic yes, fine I'll help."
With the perk system you receive slight tweaks to abilities but nothing that makes your character truly "unique" like in previous games. Don't expect any dialogue choices to be impacted by any other stat than charisma.

* Settlements are full of dull and lifeless npcs. Oblivion npcs had more character and personality to them repeating the same lines over&over than these "nameless" settlers.

* 0 replay value without mods

* It's dlc (except maybe far harbour&Nukaworld) is devoid of life; much of it being addon settlement garbage

* Creation club, or a.k.a "Paid mods" is a joke. Mods should never be paid for, Bethesda has no place in making money off their online communities work. They've outright ripped off some great mod authors out there with their garbage; who have left the scene entirely.

Tldr: Fun game? Yes. Fallout game with deep roleplaying? ♥♥♥♥ no.

Early Access Review
Save your money. The developer's broke many promises; even outright putting the game into a "dead state" by stalling updates entirely; telling people "It's not abandoned, just on pause." This game is an outright scam, the devs saw an oppurtunity to leech off users with a good concept and they took it. They promised many many things over the course of it's "life" broke all of them, didn't make deadlines; and they have the gall to imply the consumers they ripped off are "ungrateful".

*Update* They're still milking unsuspecting consumers with menial effort.
