Overall this is a great game and it was more than I expected when the leaks were originally coming out years ago. The story is fun and engaging and the gameplay is far better than I thought it would be based on the official release content. However there is quite a few issues that hold it back and leave it less satisfying that it could have been.

My major issue with the game is how easy and repetitive the game is. For some context I played the game with keyboard and mouse on the Hard difficulty and it feels like Portkey set the difficulty standards specifically for controller even though the combat system is more fluid and exciting with keyboard and mouse (my opinion of course). The deaths that I have can be counted with four hands over the course of my play through and the vast majority occurred by trying to feel cool with a spin dash over a gap and falling to my death. The broom courses also seem based on the use of controller as Ruby Wiel is incredibly easy to beat without upgrading the broom further on each course.

My next gripe is how little the NPCs are involved outside of quests, which is something I never felt an issue with regarding The Witcher 3, as I use as my baseline comparison to any single player, story driven game. I wanted more hi-jinx and mischief for the main characters outside/during their quest lines. Sebastian is a fan favorite for a reason as the depth put into his story line is far deeper than anyone else, with Poppy as a distance second in my opinion. Putting main characters aside, why can't I interact with the people of my house more? I was hoping to feel connected to the same house that I've felt that I would get sorted into if I was part of the Harry Potter universe and that fell flat for me.

My last issue with the game is the restrictions put on magic in the world. You would think that 100 years prior to Harry Potter's time that the magic taught would be more expanded, and the answer to that is a yes and a no. We are given ancient magic and taught insane abilities but I expected more things to be prevalent that would be hidden in the restricted section or banned by the ministry in the original story.

Ultimately the game is engaging and really pulls you into the universe. If you're looking for a problem you're going to find it but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it at the same time. The game re-sparked my childhood love for the story and I hope there is more to come from what the developer has built.

This co-op puzzle game is wild and left me wanting to know more about the story as soon as the game finished. As with all puzzle games you need to keep the mindset of "Keep It Simple Stupid" but not too simple as you will end up getting stuck and having to start over on a few of the chapters. I played this game with my SO and we went though anger, frustration and triumph as the puzzles are extremely rewarding to finish. I'm for sure going to purchase We Were Here Too.

For those Linux users like me the game runs very well and I only ran into minor stuttering with the latest proton on high graphics.
