Sekiro is an incredible action-adventure game that will offer a brutal and unrelenting challenge. Know that this is a slight departure from the typical Souls formula; Sekiro has a greater focus on the action and adventure while losing most the RPG aspects. Your freedom of movement is surprisingly great, not only can you properly jump, but you can walljump, grapple hook and even swim not just on the surface but underwater too. There is indeed a small but fun amount of underwater sections to explore and plunder (most are entirely optional), and even a couple bosses to square against underwater. The best part is that when you unlock the ability to swim underwater, you gain a magic power to stay submerged indefinitely without having to resurface for oxygen. This greater focus on exploration and movement reminds me of Shadow of the Tomb Raider which I regard highly.

On the combat side of things, you are permanently stuck with one weapon for the whole game. Some may be disappointed in the lack of build diversity, but to be honest, in the Dark Souls games I usually just stuck with the same weapon most the time anyway. I still do wish there were at least 1 or 2 extra primary weapons though. Luckily, the weapon you are stuck with is immensely satisfying to use, and Sekiro boasts some of the most intense and challenging PvE swordplay conceivable. If you're like me and suck at parrying in Dark Souls, then you're gonna have a tough time here but you'll love it anyway. It is so good that no matter how hard it gets, you want to keep trying and getting better. There are very few experiences in a video game that can match being totally annihilated by a seemingly impossible boss, only to improve your skills through sheer resilience and persistence until you become the boss.

Even though I came into this game expecting to suck, I wasn't quite expecting just how brutally insanely challenging it would turn out to be. It is barely hyperbole when I say that Sekiro manages to make Dark Souls look like it was made for brain damaged amputee paraplegic kindergarteners. If you were ever decent at parrying then your mileage may vary of course. As for me, almost every single boss and even miniboss proved to be immense hurdles. It would sometimes feel like I hit a brick wall and that I might as well give up because I just don't see how I can ever beat that. But then I do, and that's what it's all about. If you have even the slightest appreciation for some good boss fights then this game is a mandatory purchase. Expect to be challenged, and expect to have felt you actually accomplished something even though in reality you just played a game and witnessed a particular arrangement of pixels on the screen and nothing more.

Obviously, this game is not perfect. There are a few things I wasn't particularly enthused about, but mainly it's the way Prosthetic Tools work. These are your cool ninja tools like shurikens, flamethrowers, retractable axes and spears and even bullet proof umbrellas. Sounds awesome right? Indeed they are, except for one thing: they all cost a special currency to use. This "currency" is spirit emblems and it drops from pretty much every enemy so you'll be practically drowning in them. So what's the problem? Boss fights. If you are stuck on a boss for a long amount of time, which happens to me on pretty much every boss, then you'll quickly find your spirit emblem reserves running dry if you are one to enjoy yourself with some cool toys. I see no reason why spirit emblems can't just work like the healing flask and refill when you rest at a shrine instead of consuming your limited supply. You don't earn any while fighting a boss since you aren't killing anything until you finally beat it, so you might completely run out and then your only options are to just fight the boss normally (which is still fun mind you, but it's still missing out on some of the main combat mechanics which several bosses were specifically designed around) or give up for a while and farm fodder enemies to refill your emblem stockpiles. This flawed design choice led me to pretty much forget about ever using the tools, because there was no point being reliant on them if they could just run out and force me to farm which I have no intention of doing when I'm trying to beat an epic boss! Dark Souls 1 and 2 had spells and special attacks with limited uses that replenished when resting, Dark Souls 3 had FP that replenished when resting. And then Sekiro's cool powers rely on a currency that you are liable to run out of and must do some braindead MMORPG type farming if you want more. Seems backwards to me.

Sekiro is easily FromSoft's best looking game to date, and it certainly helps that there's actual vibrant colours for once. I loved exploring the environments as much as I did because they were beautiful works of art. The diversity of locations isn't quite as high as the Souls games but there's still enough eye candy to enjoy, and it helps that the level design is actually insanely good too. You know how each Dark Souls had progressively less intricate level design? This game finally goes back to having impressive level design reminiscent of Dark Souls 1 but with much more depth thanks to the freedom of movement and detail of the environments. At numerous points in the game I had 3 or 4 separate paths I could take, and each individual one usually splits up into different paths or is just generally pretty large. Sometimes I would take a path and end up back at a previous area and just be impressed by how well it's all connected. This isn't quite an open world game, but it feels very close to being one at times. I have very high hopes for Elden Ring now, since it's legit open world.

I may have beaten the game after 47 hours, but I'm far from finished with it; getting 100% achievements will be no easy feat as it's required to beat the game no less than 4 times. I played this game expecting a Dark Souls spinoff to keep me busy until Elden Ring, but I didn't realise just how incredible the experience would be. It's certainly flawed in some aspects, as is every game, but the overall experience is pretty damn close to a 10/10.

Totally Accurate Battle Simulator is a title you probably won't find on many reviewer lists. Its Steam description states it as an "RTS/FPS mash-up," and the campaign is meant to be a tough, albeit fun, challenge. And while the player doesn't control a ton of units, there are quite a few and they do behave very differently. For the most part, this causes the game to provide a non-linear experience. The way you do battle depends on what your overall plan of attack is. On a game that gives the player more leeway, I would have liked to see a bit more and maybe some tutorial missions or tutorials, but I don't think this is a deal-breaker.

Perhaps a bit different than most of the games on this list, which tend to stick to one or the other, Totally Accurate Battle Simulator has a complex control scheme that includes mouse and keyboard and controller support. The game doesn't do an excellent job at making this clear, however, as you'll have to make a conscious effort to use either. Thankfully, the keyboard controls are solid, as is the Steam Controller, although it's a bit touchy and doesn't always know how to do what you want. You'll have to learn to accept that the keyboard might get in the way sometimes, and you'll also have to learn to learn to make better use of the Steam Controller, but the game is just that fun to use. And while there are only a few voice commands in the game, the game also supports a fourth controller (provided you own one) by using both Joy-Con and Pro Controller.

The game gives the player options for each of the four primary units: ground troops, air support, naval assault, and mech. With the mech, you do actually control the main man, although controlling everything seems to take a bit of getting used to. Most of the time, the AI will just push your mech around on its own, forcing you to activate its auto-aim function or using a second player to manually run the mech around. In an interview, the developer said they had a lot of difficulty with this. One major issue is the player's manual aiming is different than the mech's, so some of the in-game navigation can be a bit off. Some changes made from version 1.0 to 2.0 to rectify this, but it's still not perfect.

On the ground, the player must attack and hold objectives, whereas on the air they'll launch missile strikes on an enemy target. On the naval assault, they'll send fighter jets into battle and sink enemy ships, using air to repair damaged ships as they go. The biggest change from the first release is the addition of a full faction system, allowing you to customize your own army. You have a preset roster with different soldiers, but you can mix and match if you feel like something different would be better. The game's author told me it's still not completely fleshed out, but there is still a lot to choose from, including generals, planners, and engineers, among others.

The audio in the game is about as entertaining as the controls. With a campaign mode that can have up to 12-20 missions, there's a lot of variety and options, even if the music isn't the best, which I consider a given. One notable change is that the game now uses the Steam Cloud to save your progress. When a mission is finished, you can also simply choose a specific mission and have that always be saved. This is a great addition, and should be a major selling point for the game. Another change is that the game has a randomly-generated battle scenario. While you won't always be in a mission where some of the heavy hitters from the game are available, the randomness should prevent the player from getting bored easily.

Totally Accurate Battle Simulator is currently on Steam Early Access, and is available for $20.04. While the game is still in development, the developer has an active community of testers to keep feedback and features flowing. It's very close to a polished product, and it's worth checking out for the controller-focused action, as well as the experience of managing an entire army of mechs. The rest of the development team also seem to be working hard on an overhaul of the mouse and keyboard controls.

Pros:
  • Nice looking and simple, but some of the controls are tricky

Conclusion
This is very much a video game, so there are no menus to load or tutorials to get through. The first thing you have to do is fight your way out of a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ first mission, and all the rest is up to you.

Bug and crash :( :( :( and bugs and bugs and crash and buggy bug bug bug slimy bugs ruining my life with crashy bugs and the bugs are taking over and noone is there to stop them because the devs are too busy working on another game to help get rid of the bugs so we have to deal with the infestation of bugs that are ruining everything and creating sadness in people's lives.

Circus Update
Now the game is Fortnite. It's become a literal circus, I mean the update is straight up called "Murder Circus" in what I assume is some attempt at meta commentary about how they're killing the game by turning it into a joke. Maybe it's just me, but perverting an original unique game into bastardised modern slop is not my kind of humour.

Adding horror movie crossovers, and singer crossovers, that's literally what Fortnite and CoD do and those games are a disease I don't want to go anywhere near, but now it's infecting a game I've already played :(

Such disastrous handling of a once great game is worse than just straight up releasing a bad game, so this game deserves a rating less than the usual minimum of 0/10; maybe a -2 or -3/10

Are you a hunter or a slayer? Do you think that other hunters are out to get you or are you just being paranoid? Either way, the hunt for top honours on Hunt: Showdown is almost here!

If you're the type of person who loves to hide behind a keyboard and cover up all those awkward pauses in conversation, you'll find this section of the review quite interesting, or at least it was when I was writing it.

There, I got the awkward gaps out of the way early. Anyway, Hunt: Showdown is a PvP first-person shooter with elements of social deduction. It sounds like the start of a difficult mission, but you're going to love it. Here's everything you need to know.

For the uninitiated, Hunt: Showdown is a game where you compete with your friends to be the last to survive as you compete in a variety of events to rack up the most points for each individual event. The games are designed to test both your real-life strategy and twitch gaming skill, so you'll be relying on your skills to avoid getting caught by players that've planned out the best way to slaughter you.

The way to play this game is very simple, and it should be familiar for any FPS fan. Hunt Showdown is a live-action hide & seek game in which you have to seek out an enemy hide, and capture it and destroy it. You will have to find a hide, and hide it, and then a player will show up there.

Star Trek Adventures: There has been talk about this game since I purchased the DS, and the idea still lingers in my mind. I know that I own it and have played it but I can't remember much about it. I know it is a sci - fi, space exploration RPG.

What does it really have to do with this game review?

A lot.

This review is largely based on how a video game should play, how it feels in your hands, how smooth it plays, if the sounds are high quality, if the screens are clear, and if the game has any bugs.

So there you have it, my ultimate recommendation for the game.

An extraordinary point & click adventure game reminiscent of the Amanita Design games.
This is a passion project by a solo dev, over the course of 7 years I believe.
The whole game is made out of paper, and by that I mean everything was physically crafted out of paper in real life.
Elaborate 3d structures of paper with meticulous detail were made especially for this game.
Papetura is quite literally artwork.
The game is fun, funny and cute, and the accompanying soundtrack by Floex is the cherry on top of this masterpiece.
An absolute must have for anyone even remotely interested in point & click games or just amazing indie games in general.

  • The armour system is too complex at first – it can be hard to get a feel for

  • Normal difficulty – Not a true hard mode in every sense, as it does very little to unlock the many more challenging stages of the game.

  • You start the game with only a fraction of the equipment you'll unlock later on.

  • The campaign is short – only 12 maps with 4-6 hours to beat them all. That’s already 1.5 hours too short for something like Dark Souls 3.
Detailed Review

At its core, Warhammer Vermintide 2 is just Warhammer in the modern day. It was originally conceived as a Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide DLC, but it proved so popular that developer Fatshark decided to develop a standalone sequel instead.

Sharing the setting of the Warhammer Fantasy universe, Warhammer Vermintide 2 has been designed with gamers having a different experience. As the title implies, the game offers tactical team based, first person melee combat with some turns. Players join with up to three other friends, or strangers online, and can play on the dark side, or the light side of the war. In addition, there are 10 speciality hero classes to choose from, including an order of heavily armored warriors, armed with batons, shields, swords, and spears.

As with the first game, players of Vermintide 2 are in charge of a group of warriors. The player can mark enemies and their positions so that the other players can defeat them in a chaotic brawl. This is an important role and can be completed by any class. The theming of each map revolves around a particular location, which gives rise to entirely new challenges, and a host of things to fight. Instead of only being restricted by the needs of the battle, you can also fully explore the environment, if you fancy, which will undoubtedly throw up new challenges and items.

The gameplay of Vermintide 2 is good. It’s reminiscent of that of Left 4 Dead, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. You fight with several of your friends, and it plays similar to other co-op games in the genre. Vermintide 2 doesn’t play like Left 4 Dead, though. It’s slightly slower, and has some things that aren’t as big of a focus as they are in the original game.

The music of Vermintide 2 is what I expected it to be. It’s not original (despite the composer insisting this is a superior version of the original, complete with the old character design and general aesthetic), but it is a very good remix of the original. The chimes, airships, barbershop horns, swords, drums, guitars, and melancholy orchestral themes have all been rebuilt with such detail and attention to detail it’s just not believable the original ever existed.

It sounds better than it ever could.

Everything is better.

Conclusion

The bottom line is that Vermintide 2 is a solid co-op game. It doesn’t push the genre forward like the original, but it does provide plenty of fun. The biggest issue with it is the loot system, which could definitely use a little improvement. Still, if you’re looking for a multiplayer action game that’s free from glitches and doesn’t put up with your skill level, then this is a must play.

  • Tons of content with tons of enemies, all of which are great

  • Free with in-game currency

  • Easy, but challenging to master

  • Looks and plays great in VR

A DLC that is equal to or greater than the base game itself in terms of content. Yes.

Edit: Actually there is MORE THAN DOUBLE the amount of gameplay in Repentance ALONE than in Rebirth AND Afterbirth AND Afterbirth+ all combined. This really is bigger than a sequel, and really does seem like it will be 500 hours worth. $15 USD is a steal and keep in mind all the negative reviews (actually even the positive ones too) are from people who haven't even experienced 10% of the new stuff. Even I haven't.
