Fun so far. Will maybe do a full review once I get enough hours in.

It's a good game to play if you only want 5- to 15-minute sessions. Pretty useful when you're at work and your brain is about to explode. :D Good way to de-stress. You can't push your dwellers though so after a time, it's a good idea to let them be. Perfect for mini-breaks.

Great game! It's addictive, short, and challenging without being too easy or frustrating.

It also allowed me to rake in a truckload of achievements with which to accrue experience points in the last Steam sale. I outlined how this game can help in Steam sale events that have unlocking achievements as a primary mechanic. Here's my "Steam Sale – How to Level Up Fast for FREE on Steam" guide:

So for years, I've regularly sifted through Steam's offerings looking for a solid Metal Warriors clone. Fast forward to today, I'm home.

An excerpt from my F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin Cons review on my Imbacore page: http://imbacore.blogspot.com/2011/06/fear-2-cons-review-made-by-fear-fan.html:

"I’ve decided to release a rundown of disappointing aspects in the horror series’ second chapter. These are:

The sound effects of some of the weapons
The anemic special effects
The sub-par AI
The odd design choices (levels and Replica armor)

I’m a hardcore fan of the PC first-person shooter series—I’ve bought all the games in the series including the DLC. I even finished the first F.E.A.R. game without using SloMO—while on Extreme Difficulty. And while I’m not a walking encyclopedia when it comes to F.E.A.R. lore, I am very familiar with the nuances of the first F.E.A.R. game.

. . . .

Gun Fu

John Woo films heavily influenced the first game. In fact, lead designer Craig Hubbard has been quoted as saying “[Our plans are] to make combat as intense as the tea house shootout at the beginning of John Woo's Hard-Boiled.”

I don’t know where this went.

F.E.A.R. 2 has been regarded mostly as a solid shooter, but it doesn’t give you the sense of chaos that the first game conveyed to its gamers. Sure, things still explode and disintegrate in impressive ways in F.E.A.R. 2 but the level design and most of the ranges that firefights take place in are too large to suck in the player in a maelstrom of body parts, wood chips, powdered concrete, and flying sheaves of paper that the first game was able to bombard gamers with.

While certainly the large fighting grounds are a very welcome addition after the first game’s claustrophobic (and monotonous) office environs, the devs should have made steps to emulate F.E.A.R.’s particle-heavy firefights.

. . . .

Replica Design - F.E.A.R. 1 vs F.E.A.R. 2

With both events in F.E.A.R. 1 and 2 occurring almost at the same time, why do vastly different-looking Replica soldiers appear in the original and the sequel? The ones who laid siege to the Armacham HQ, the Perseus compound, and the Origin facility look significantly inferior to those who patrol the facilities in F.E.A.R. 2 (the Bio-Research Facility, the Wade Elementary School, etc). This design scheme that the F.E.A.R. 2 clones exhibit whaled away at what little suspension of disbelief I had encased myself in. These clones are supposed to be owned and created by the same company so the wildly deviating armor and weapon designs, for me, come out as unrealistic, even surreal.

Maybe because they’re Variant VIIs, some might argue. But the developers should have peppered the sequel’s levels with the older clones here and there. As it is, sometimes I felt I was playing a game from a different series, something that’s definitely unflattering.
"

That said, if you want a solid first-person shooter to scratch your FPS itch, F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is one of those cathartic experiences you'd do well to experience. Just don't compare this with the first F.E.A.R. as the series—with its sequels that couldn't compare to the original—did slowly but dizzyingly orbit around a sink drain there to ignominiously flush itself into obscurity with the final nail to the coffin, the much-maligned F.E.A.R. Online.

I hope this series gets retconned again as there's still so much promise here.

Very happy so far. IMHO, it's better than Razer Surround.

There are some few minor issues that I would like to list when I've the time. Minor things though.

UPDATE: May 4, 2020. It's not working anymore. Crashes when I launch it.

UPDATE: It worked again. Deleted the Spatial Sound Card.settings file. It's odd. I did that before and it didn't work. I hope this time it sticks.

UPDATE: Gaaaaah.

UPDATE: June 19, 2020: They updated the software. Will observe and see if it still crashes.

UPDATE: June 21, 2020: Now, no sound comes out of my headphones. The OS acknowledges that there's audio playing but no sound comes out. Also: Quitting the software doesn't "kill" it on Steam; it still shows that it's running. Devs, please fix this.

Fantastic lore, phenomenal graphics, unique gameplay. The problem is, if you're outside the primary countries, the ping is abysmal.

Not recommending this until we get enough servers.

Not meaning to disparage the game: If you're in the bigger countries, you should give this a try. I'm just disappointed about the game's infrastructure at this point.

While I don't support weapon DLCs (they're basically cashgrabs), I bought this one for ~35 US cents so I'm not complaining. At that price point, it's basically free and the massive damage it dishes out does give you a much-needed edge if you're playing on Veteran or Commander difficulty. (The handful of Mutons that pop up in the earlygame are walking nightmares at the highest difficulty level.)

Buy this when it goes on sale (and if you haven't installed the base game yet otherwise replaying the game just for this is a ludicrous proposition).

If you don't plan on playing at harder difficulties though, this become a largely useless purchase.
