great sequel to a fantastic souls-esque game. the only real gripes:

- atmospheric noises like screams and character dialogue isn't varied/spaced out enough. as much as id love to die repeatedly and hear "DRIA....WHYYYYYYY" 15 times it gets old really quick.
- crystal interaction is very finicky. i could have aggro from an enemy half way across the map and the crystal wont let me interact with it because im 'in combat'.
- optimization is less than ideal. even with a 3080 i get fuzzy pictures of items while in loading screens that take a while to become clear, and the higher FOV has a terrible time with the environment, sometimes stretching dirt to higher than it actually is and creates lots of unfortunate artifacts.
- for specific items/weapons you have to get a specific story roll that may take a while to get/find, while new DLC gets a 'one shot' mode that has very specific rolls. unsure if this is the standard for those items that we miss the first time around but i dont recall that being the case for the base game.

personally, i would recommend you play both games to fully enjoy the story, but this game does well on its own.
