I love The Hundred Line

A quick PSA however

DO NOT READ THE CREDITS AFTER YOUR SECOND ENDING. Reason below:

This might not affect everyone, but in the credits after ending 2, it tells you the name of all of the routes. This might be a spoiler to some people, but it's a definitely spoiler to me know what things can happen. I just wanted to highlight that potential pitfall.

Other than the PSA, this game is fantastic and I look forward to playing it for another 80 or so hours as it emotionally destroys me.

Fantastic game. Really enjoyed all of the characters and the writing. No choice was arbitrary and it really felt like I had real weight behind every decision I made, even if the cards were unfortunate at times!

My only small gripe was at the end. It seemed pretty wild to me that both Jasmine and Dahlia were both completely furious and upset with Fortuna about the Behemoth and about her powers. I can understand the shock, but it felt really odd that both of them were just completely "you suck, you caused this, you are the worst, everything is your fault". I don't know if this was partly because of my choices but I was pretty friendly with both of them throughout and the ending showed that too. I found this unrealistic and it soured what was a great ending .

Outside of that though, it was money and time well spent. Love went into this game and I will definitely be playing through this multiple times to pull on loose threads I didn't get the chance to, or fix mistakes I made. One thing that would be ideal is more of a traditional NG+. Starting again is very slow, it would be great if you could just pick 4 cards to go back in with, but I appreciate there are still important decisions to be made during the tutorial.

I very much look forward to anything further from this game, this universe, or from this dev team. Fortuna is one of my favourite characters in years, and I'm glad Patrice went out in a beautiful Orgy.

I gave The Case of the Golden Idol a 10/10 when I played it and it was my game of the year, so of course I knew I was going to enjoy the sequel.

That said, I'd give this an 8.5/10. Whilst I loved the story telling and what was a good conclusion, it didn't have the same gravitas as the original. I don't think anything will ever hit like the final chapter in the first game though so maybe it's a tough comparison.

There's a lot more content here and I really appreciate the additional cases, but some of them were only relevant to the main story in very small ways, which took a bit of the excitement away from going case to case and knowing what was going to happen next. The ending didn't feel like the same grand conclusion as the original, even though it very cleverly tied together a lot of the previous cases nicely and did still have those moments of "oh of course that's why!".

Overall, I still love the game, I will actively wait for follow up content and/or a new game because the game play these games provide are superb. Whilst I have been a little more critical of the sequel, you tend to critique the things you love and enjoy the most, and I still 100% recommend it to anyone that liked the original.

AMAZING demo, super intriguing, almost like Hotel Dusk style puzzle solving.

Enjoyable demo, story sounds like it's going to be interesting!

The "combo"/"defend" mechanic is quite difficult to get to grips with, especially using a controller. Got to the end of the demo and never really managed to pull it off consistently or in a way that felt satisfying. Maybe needs a bit more vfx or a rumble or something to just help that feel better and be more user friendly

So far this is my 2023 game of the year

Not since 999 have I stayed up late just to get one more piece of information out of such an incredible story. I've only stopped because I've run out of game.

The music is phenominal, it's so perfect for this game. So my hype builds up when certain tracks play, especially as discussions progress or panic ensues.

Artwork is stellar, well drawn characters with more than 3/4 poses like a lot of VN's.

I struggle to think of a criticism. Every single story twist has been exceptional (one of them was a little obvious mind you) and I absolutely cannot wait to see the next chapter.

Buy this game and support the incredible talent making it. There's more heart and soul in this one indie game than every triple A game in the last decade

Fabulous

I enjoyed every second of this. It's smart and makes you think you're smart when you link things together because of it's fantastic writing.

Admittedly there were points I had to somewhat guess the answer to because I was a little confused, but when I actually solved certain cases it all made sense and I berated myself for not seeing the clues.

This is especially true of the last case, of which when I answered it and understood why the answer was correct, an actual lightning bolt struck me and tied the whole thing together and it was just such a fantastic revelation that ended the game perfectly.

What I wouldn't do for more content like this.

Excellent game, some great story telling, vibrant characters, interesting world and world-building.

Slightly tedious getting from place to place, but that's probably my only negative of the entire game.
