A fun little time-waster. Playing with friends ups the ante!

Fairly essential for any Elite: Dangerous player, E.:D.: Horizons basically just adds a plethora of content that is both interesting and useful.

This game allows me to live out all my fantasies I had as a ten-year-old of being a space pilot. It is very good.

If you focus on the sound of your footsteps and your breath, you can almost convince yourself that you don't hear the screams.

Going back to some old reviews. An OK game on its own rights, but falls victim to a certain degree of mechanical bloat peculiar to these sorts of games. If you're a fan of that intricacy, you'll probably like this one. Like virtually all Paradox games (and Hearts of Iron in particular), the fanbase has a bit of a fashy edge to it that's offputting.

Arguably the best stealth game ever made. The story isn't finished (Konami played us like a damned fiddle!), but the parts that we do have are great. The gameplay and open world can more than compensate for the unsatisfying ending. Get inside a cardboard box and keep someone waiting today!

DEFCON is a real-time nuclear strategy game based on the 1983 movie "WarGames" [sic.]. It uses the same vector graphics "big board" screen featured in the movie. It has no resource gathering or really any other "StarCraft-ish" R.T.S. staples except for some micro-management with fleets and planes if you so choose, and some facility placement, but instead focuses on the nuclear engagement itself. There are rarely any people online, so it is best played with friends if a multiplayer game is what you want. You can make alliances, but there can only be one winner. This means that at some point, you will be betrayed if you don't do it first. This adds a feeling of paranoia. I should mention that the A.I. is actually very good, and will probably beat you for your first few games, at least, and may even proceed to beat you for even longer. These games can be VERY long. There is a mode called "Office Mode" in which the game is locked at real time (normally it allows one to speed up time), meaning that the game can take anywhere from five to six hours per game. (An interesting feature of this mode in particular is its self-awareness. It knows that this might be played at work [hence the name, "Office Mode"], and therefore adds a system where the game will hide in the system tray if you press the "escape" key twice in quick succession, and it plays no audio.). If just playing on normal mode, if you set it to real time, games can easily last for eight hours or so. Anyway, there are several scoring and game modes, including "default", in which you gain two points for each megadeath in the enemy's population caused by you and lose one point for each megadeath incurred on your population, "Genocide", in which you gain one point for each enemy megadeath caused, and "Survivor", in which you gain one point for every million survivors in your territory. The soundtrack is also pretty good. Annihilating your enemies in nuclear fire has never been so fun! Gandhi approves! (Joke explained: In Civilization II, Gandhi started with a very low aggression level. The game has a system where as the game progresses, aggression levels go down. But because his aggression was already so low, this caused his aggression level to go into the negatives, which caused the value to glitch and jump up to a MASSIVE 225. Thereafter, Gandhi will become obsessed with nuclear weapons and threatens everyone with them, and uses them rather frequently. Also he says some pretty funny stuff in-game, too, id est "Our words are backed with NUCLEAR WEAPONS!".).

Verdun is a very realistic World War 1 first person shooter. It is squad-based and best played with friends over voice chat such as Discord, but I've had plenty of fun playing with complete strangers. It really isn't as dead as people make it out to be, there are almost always near-full 64-player servers, with the empty spaces filled in with bots. This is no Battlefield 1, mind you. If you don't like difficulty curves, this is not the game for you. Most hits are one-hit kills, so expect rather sudden demises. Use cover. In short, if you crave realism, get it. Hell, get Tannenberg too!

The competitive multiplayer is pretty dead. If you are looking for that, go to ArmA 3. But don't despair: You can play through the campaign with friends (this is highly suggested, otherwise trying to get bots into vehicles can be a pain), and you can also play through the 3 additional D.L.C. campaigns with friends, too. There are also a good number of 'scenarios', basically mini (approximately 10-20 minute) campaigns that you can also play through with friends. They usually thrust you into the action pretty much immediately, and are good if you don't have time to play on the full campaign. The competitive multiplayer does still work, so hypothetically if you were able to gather enough people, you could play a normal sized game. But going about that might be more trouble than it's worth. There are also challenges that can be completed in the 'Armory', where you can mess around with weapons and vehicles. Buy ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead for the singleplayer/co-op content. (Play it on 'Expert' mode, as it was intended to be played.). You probably won't regret it.

Basically a tactical strategy game in space with a fair amount of humor.
