A solid 7/10 game. I didn't anticipate simulationist/immersive elements for this game  (I detest using this term "immersive", since it can mean different things in game design - but I mean as in the feeling of "being there"), like BGS games or recently KCD2 (which is presently my GOTY - this may change in 2025, particularly if the Oblivion remake is true). Anyway, to get off that tangent, the game overall a good story and good usage of PoE lore and world (Yes, I am a huge pillars of eternity fan), and I do think that this game did justice to the overall world and lore established on those two CRPG gems. However, the writing isn't as excellent as I'd expect from an Obsidian game, which is unfortunate. Combat and exploration are good, and I may even say amazing.

What else? Yeah, as I noted, this is more of a gamist and narrativist title than BGS games, and I wasn't disappointed since I didn't expect interactivity from systems and the world itself. I can see how folks could be disappointed if they were anticipating Obsidian's response to the Elder Scrolls; this isn't it. KCD2 is Warhorse's response to it, with a medieval spin. Why the KCD comparisons? Because KCD2 has currently taken over my life, exactly like BGS games (including Starfield), while this game hasn't - which is more of a personal choice, since I favor simulationist/immersive elements in games.
With decent DLC, this might be an 8/10 for me.

ngl kinda getting bored, the open world and related activities aren't fun at all - I don't see how this was nominated for goty 2024
(will play a bit more and try to get to the mid-point of the story to decide if I like it or not)

Just from the 20 hours I have played until now, I recommend Veilguard. The starting 10-15 hours of the game is very slow paced, but once it picks up, it keeps getting better (without spoiling anything). Some of the dialogue is sub-par though.
