This game is hard to explain.

The learning curve is so steep that when you start playing you are basically free falling off a skyscrapper. This allows for a shroud of complexity that can or can not be present depending on the characters selected and playing the game.

It tries to sell itself as chess on steroids but on this chess board there are pieces that are invisible to the other player while other pieces that are so powerful the only way to remove them from the board is to stop them from playing the game before it starts. Makes sense right? Not really. These are "counters" you are supposed to know about almost 100 characters going in. At the very same time the visual, movement and playstyle is very addicting and the skill cap is quite high for those wish to stick it out. You will want to try out a lot of different characters and be punished by other players for doing so.

Due to the above this game becomes very unfriendly for friends to play. When you lose a game, you lose it for a very long time and for friends to endure that together is definently a strain especially with competitive people. The general community leans toward being quite vicious towards new players while groupie level drooling idolization of high end players but there are some exceptions.

Play at your own risk.
