Come on. It's mother-frickin Age of Empires II! Any guy who grew up with strategy games must've at least played this. A timeless classic which has elements that surprisingly hold up to this day. Sure the isometric view has it's quirks like weird wall and gate placements, but this game is pretty damn fun. Picked it up on sale for cheap so I can't argue value wise. One thing to note is the finicky nature of the game itself. Sometimes it refuses to start while at other times getting online is a chore. But once you get in man oh man. Nostalgia.

And yes. I've played enough of it over the years (and finally on Steam) to have heard all 12 or so of the soundtrack enough to know their tunes. And props to that kickass theme.

And developers you cheeky bunch. Releasing a DLC after ALL THESE YEARS. Major props. Might pick it up soon. Ah well. Hope my farms don't run out again.

Twin-stick shooters have a special place in my heart. My first one was Geometry Wars on the Xbox 360. Yes, it was free. And the trial version if I'm not wrong (damn that thing was last played years ago). But I liked the frantic action and the deceivingly simple controls. Which is why I was interested in this. Picking up Hero Siege fairly recently got me back into these type of games and I didn't regret picking this one up. Very fun mix of furious blasting of alien scum and a bit of team coordination make this an enjoyable experience. Graphics are cool too, with it's own unique artstyle. I liked the whole idea of "dropping feet first into hell" ala Helljumpers from Halo. Badass and packing huge firepower, but still human and fragile. The guns and weaponry are awesome, and offer a selection to send the enemies to hell. There's also vehicles like mechs and tanks. Another thing is the button minigame implemented when you want to activate something, kinda like a mini para-para kind of mechanic. Up, up down down on the D-Pad...That sort of thing. Which means under fire you're supposed to do this.... Damn. The pressure's on. With only an hour or two on the clock, I can't criticise the grind some of the guys here bash the game on. So far so good.

One major aspect of this game: Friendly fire. Not only from others, but yourself. Sending a pod down? Mind the impact. Your boys letting loose a hail of gunfire? Might wanna duck. Evac dropship inbound? Stay clear. So many ways to die other than getting torn apart by enemies.

TL;DR if you wanna be a badass ODST and send the enemies of mankind packing through sheer firepower get this game. Bonus points if you get your mates in on the action too. The 4 man squad system is perfect in its size. Just mind the bump.

Damn, the number of people jumping on Bethesda's throat for this is amazing. Come on. So this DLC...What can I say? For one, I really like the workshop and settlement system of the base game, so anything that adds on to that is alright in my book. For one, this DLC (or add-on) is more towards the creative guys out there, who spend their time figuring out how to wire up complex contraptions in their settlements than going out and killing stuff. There's conveyor belts, rails for balls and even logic gates. This obviously is meant for the tinkerers. For me, I like the conveyor system. Pretty nifty, if a bit impractical seeing as to how much resources I actually have for mass production of items. I've only ♥♥♥♥♥♥ around with the conveyor belts and a bit of the new elevators, which by the way, is suspiciously similar to DDProduction's creation. Hell, a few of the items here are, but I digress. So, is it worth it? For 7 SGD...Perhaps, if you are a budding architect or a mad technolord. For me, someone who bought the season pass back when it was cheap, it's a nice little addition.

So uhh....I played this game a bit. Shootin' and grindin' stuff. And it was alright.

P.S. Sure it's a buggy P.O.S., grindy as all hell and sometimes confused as to what it wants to be but damn if the community and devs are some of the best out there. Went through my first 3k hours of pain and pleasure and here's to another 3k.
