Excellent homage to the first game, with many improvements! You can copy and paste automatically a lot of the text, only need to type a few things, and only a few clues per case aren't ones you collect but rather ones you figure out via the other clues. The story is interesting, and there are some decent achievements that can take some work. Unlike the first one, you can't really progress this time without finding all the clues. Really enjoying it. Keep in mind it's an in progress game and not yet finished at the time of writing this review.

As I understand it there was a bit of a publisher war with this game, but it is now sitting with Frogwares who have updated everything and fixed known bugs. I never played it prior to this.

It plays very much like their more recent games. If you enjoyed Call of Cthulhu or any of the Sherlock Games, you'll enjoy this. Lots of main and side quests, and lots of DLC for extra quests. The story is interesting and the game ports to Steamdeck too.

If you're a casual player like me, who sucks at melee and fps, there is a free trainer on wemod to make those aspects a bit easier. Otherwise, the game has some built in difficulty levels you can change when you first start.

I am really enjoying it, and I am glad it's all kosher now.

This entire game is reading, taking notes, and then making sure you type out the answers exactly without any typos, with last names or no last names, with numbers or spelled out. It's just boring to me, finicky and not fun. I really love crime stuff and the hype on this had me super interested. But it could legit just be a text-based game. I didn't find the cases hard so much as I found them frustrating because of how nit picky the answers are.

I don't want to have to take notes and type so much in a game. I'd prefer you just collect evidence and then examine it all to solve.

I got all the cases correct and couldn't open the bonus case, so I had to redo the last one.

Once you beat it, nothing happens.

Not fun on steamdeck. It works, but you need to open the keyboard and close it constantly.

I resisted this game for a while, but as a new mom who loves gaming but struggles to find the time... this is heaven sent! I play it on the steamdeck and it ports over beautifully. It's very much Disney's version of animal crossing or stardew valley. There are story quests, event quests, character quests etc. There is optional DLC and micro transactions, but you don't really need to spend more money to enjoy the game. There is still the occasional bug, but I find it a very relaxing game and very easy to pick up and put down if I only have a half hour here or there to play. It got me through those long nights with a new baby! There's an auto-save feature, but also manual save. Great Disney soundtrack. Some of the characters like Mother Gothel and Beast are reallllly annoying. lol.

I am enjoying this game for the most part. I am playing it on the steamdeck and it ports very well. I don't like the chase sequences and sometimes there is no real instruction as to what is required to get through an area. Overall though, if you've enjoyed the others you will enjoy this. You don't have to know the others' story either.

I absolutely loved this game. The branching for choices was fun, and I liked being able to explore but still follow a story. The story was smart, and I loved the characters. Great casual game. Very cute design and music. I played it on steam deck, worked great

This game is really just fantastic and worth the hype. It has a lot of good jump scares but the atmosphere itself is scary as all heck. The mechanics aren't hard, and I don't have the easiest time gaming but even I picked them up. The only issue I have is certain mouse mechanics dont work for me very well, like turning the gurney. Otherwise, it's damn spookie and worth it to play!

You are embalming bodies, but you need to identify which one is possessed. If you guess incorrectly, or fail to do it fast enough, you become possessed. All along you start to get haunted, piecing together how this situation came to be, and reliving your own traumatic history.

I am really enjoying this game. I bought it on a whim because I have a new steam deck and wanted games playable on it, and it happened to be on sale. I didn't realise it's a long-awaited sequel to another game. But you don't have to have played the 1st game.

The start of the game threw me at first, I thought it was a visual novel as there's a very long cut scene done comic style. But once you're past it, you're good.

The characters are interesting, the only downside is I find the dialog/cut scenes really slow. It's dialog heavy so it can sometimes be a slog.

Gameplay is simple. Good for a new or casual gamer. Ports well into the deck. simple puzzles, hint mode if you need it.

Before I get to the full review I want to give a trigger/content warning. If you're someone who has PTSD from various situations we might want to see the list:

- Infant murder/death
- Attempted harm of pet
- Reference to SA
- mental illness
- reference to abuse

Though this is inspired by the film Vertigo, aside from the main character developing Vertigo due to repressed trauma, and a psycho two-faced secondary character, the only thing it has in common is the soundtrack. Certainly inspired, but if you saw the film the game isn't the same so don't worry.

The game is painfully slow at times. The cinematics are slllooow and you can't skip them. The characters aren't animated very well and tend to lag with the audio dubbing. At times I found the terrible character design distracting. You could do a better job just using someone's SIM.

The twists are good, but it takes a really really long time to get there with a lot of repetitive game play. Let's play a scene. Now let's re-watch it. Now let's re-watch it but find clues. It could have been condensed.

I wasn't totally sold on the villian's motivations for some things. I also found the main character distractingly insufferable. Eventually as you learn his story you figure out why he is that way, but it was still annoying AF.

The game is meant to be played with controller but the steam controller didn't map well, and keyboard/mouse didn't either. The QTE would constantly get buggy and jump between using arrows, or dragging with the mouse, and no indication why or when. Your character can only run in certain scenes so that made for a slow paced game too. Some of the interactivity stuff seemed pretty pointless and could have been a cut scene.

Though I have these criticisms I still enjoyed it overall. It was similar to a tell-tale game but most of the choices didn't matter and the story is pretty linear.

The maps were interesting and the backgrounds were drawn/animated much better than the characters.

If you like getting perfect games, there's a great guide for the few missable achievements. Not hard, except for the QTEs. You can exploit the auto-save by walking in and out of the buildings to trigger it to save.

Many of the QTE's had no clear prompts. A lot of experimenting with replaying a spot with mouse, keyboard, and controller, to get it to progress.

slow paced but you'll still finish it in less than an hour. Not very scary.
