This game is an absolute masterpiece. So far this is my GOTY for 2024.

This game stands toe-to-toe with every great metroidvania game I’ve ever played, and might actually be in the top 3. Full stop.

The mechanics are tight, the level design is superb. The story beats and story segments of the game are engaging and well crafted. The game has a level of polish that is top tier- there is just a high level of craft and love in every aspect of this game. It is truly a love letter to the genre.

All of that, and I haven’t even mentioned how incredible the visuals are. Both visual aesthetic and technical graphics are top tier for the genre. The “Tao-Punk” visual aesthetic might be my new favorite visual design of the past few years- everything is so well thought out and well executed.

The game isn’t perfect; and there are some really tough levels, bosses, and frustrations abound- especially toward the end of the game. But overall, this game absolutely sings from beginning to end.

I can’t recommend Nine Sols enough. This is an absolute must play through and through.

Once you get accustomed to the controls it feels really good to play. I do wish there were some more guided activities and the environments leave much to be desired but for what it is, it is very enjoyable and a joy to play. Highly recommended.

This game may have some rough spots but overall it's a cool little indie game with some solid mechanics and some decent challenges. I recommend it!
