Better late than ever: I love this game's design!

It's a tight and focused bring-two-friends raid-rush, which is a breath of fresh air from bloated titles that want to do everything. Nothing wrong with doing a small game when the price reflects it (which it does!), on the contrary, at least we can finish them and enjoy more of them :D

Design-wise, being rewarded for staying still (that's when your mp regen and passive kicks in) is a stroke of genius. Not only it's clever since not moving is now an action in itself, but moving as little as possible is actually very hard (in particular as the tank or heal)! It forces you to be very intentional with your actions, learn the bosses and plan your movments accordingly. And as a bonus your allies actions are now easier to read :)

There is only two things I would want the devs to add :
- a little more leniancy on some hitboxes, I don't count the number of time we shooted "But mister referee! I was *outside* the puddle!!" xD Or maybe make the sfx a little larger so we have a hidden margin?
- couch coop!!! Seems like this game would be perfect for it as the whole stage is generally in view. Honestly, it's the only thing that prevent me from showing the game to some of my friends (not having 3 computers on hand all the time!)

Builder oriented review: see bellow

Edit: Turned the review to positive since I enjoyed the rest of the game much more that I thought I would. So much so that, frustrated by the lack of in-game information, I created the L2KD Encyclopedia:
https://r0levrai.github.io/l2kd-encyclopedia/
(actually much of my play time was dev time :D)

---

Builder oriented, old review (at 15h of playtime): mixed, could turn positive from future improvemens! TL;DR:

+ I like the gameplay, graphics and humors!
- But not the price/monetisation (w.r.t. the content), lack of QoL on PC, and more importantly, very constraining build system (which is mostly why I bought the game for).
-> Had I discovered that less than 2h in, i would have probably refunded.
-> If you like building vehicles, you might be better served by something like trailmaker for now.

---

Long version:

gameplay:
+ drifting, transforming, smashing pieces from the decor to regain nitro is a blast
+ activities diversity, humor
+ split screen on nearly everything
+ playable offline, for the most part (good for occasional play, bad for unlocking stuff since you don't have the shop and solo rates past the story are abysmal)

build:
+ some cool features: materials, hinges (even if they are statics)
+ beautiful
- you cant chose where the wheels go:
- each car/boat have a different, non-editable base (which sometimes amount to a very big chunk of the vehicle)
- they lose their unique stickers (=decals) when edited (sooo you paid for the game, paid for the battle passes, and still can't really edit your super shiney car... urgh).
- most building blocks are locked behind story, battle passes, temporary rotating shop, lots of bux grinding (multiplayer), and assembling cars by following instructions (can be fun in small doses, if not for pc clunky controls). Considering you also unlock vehicles, minifigures, stickers, engine & horn sounds, and flairs (an animeted, inseparable group of bricks), I would at least have given all or more essential bricks from the start.
- no custom figudres/stickers. as for base stickers... I can't stack them (wtf ?!), can't scale them like I want, can't color them like I want (paint is only multiplicative, but most are with strong/dark colors... would need hue shift or at least an additive option), lack diversity, some part can't even accept stickers where it would be logical... urgh
- don't have flexible parts (could do with splines)
-> makes redoing most things you loved, from lego or another reference, mostly impossible (you can still do a lot, but maybe 10% of my ideas turned feasible)

collection:
- no archive/list of (un)olocked parts and how to(/how you did) unlock them. Because the community is very small, it doesn't make for this missing info (at least it's not on the wiki yet)
- in the shop, it's not clear what is the type of object you are buying (parts, flairs, vehicles, sound ?), and if it's a vehicle, what does it unlock - surplus parts (no way to know in advance), stats (yes), base/sounds/stickers (no, which is a shame)...
-> make choosing (where) to invest very hard, especially for the surplus parts.
- no powerup explanations
- no multiplayer rank RP requirement / rewards info

QoL/attention to detail:
- some collision can send you implausibly fast in reverse
- impossible to search other creations by name (could be in a separate website with build ids)
- building mouse/keyboard controls are very clunky. edit: cut examples, was too long ^^
- crash on/after some alt-tab (3 times in menus and 1 time in race in ~15h)
- blocking highlighting bug in the advanced building tutorial ch16 (edit: can't repro)
- no workshop support, nor any external share feature - having 2d, 3d and/or sharing code embeded in the same place could really help with this game discoverability/virality in my opinion.
- no mod support
- denuevo, which is very concerning for security and privacy
