A mediocre clone of Being a ♥♥♥. Mediocre, not bad. Mediocre graphics, mediocre writing, mediocre story, etc

I love where TW:WH has come through its iterations, both the evolution through the three games as well as the continuous improvements and new content III is still getting.
I am one of those people that was skeptical about TW dipping its toes into fantasy and now I am totally hooked. The variety of units, mechanics, events that fantasy allows makes for a hugely replayable game and an incredibly fun one too.
What I do miss from historical titles is the richer, more complex strategic layer, where it's not just about maximizing the "faction's mechanic" but carefully balancing resources, public order, diplomacy, corruption, etc
Still, TW:WH has become an iconic game which regulary draws me in for a new playthrough.

A game with a lot of entertainment potential that still falls short in many aspects. It's still a very enjoyable TBS game with good connection to the WH 40k lore, pleasant graphics and fun tactical missions.
The cons are many and I am just going to list some of the glaring ones: the difficulty curve is weird and by midgame everything quickly gets rather easy, tactics repeat themselves a bit much, there is too little opportunity cost in choices as almost nothing ever gets locked; the top strategy layer is basically non-existing, a lot of stuff is just way too random.
The pros: I enjoyed the two-tiered level of each mission with an exploration strategy on top of tactical combat. And I enjoy the combat part: just long enough to be challenging

I love the original boardgame and I tried hard to love the digital port but I travel a lot for work and I would love to be able to play it on my laptop - alone or with friends - when I am away from home.

The game is beautiful and mostly runs fine on my desktop but it gets the same FPS as most heavy AAA games, which really shouldn't be the case for a boardgame port. On my laptop? 8-12 FPS on the lowest of lowest settings and it's not a bad machine at all. I have been playing AOW III and XCOM 2 on the laptop just fine. But Gloomhaven? Nah, a basically unplayable mess.

It's a boardgame ffs! I understand wanting to have fancy animations and cool lighting, but do implement a wide range of graphical settings that can make it playable on lighter or older machines.

So, yes to the game, NO to whoever took some core coding decisions for this digital port

I clicked. And clicked. And clicked. And read a lot of text. A LOT of text. Then suddenly it was over.
Graphics are pretty cheap and repetitive, asset reuse is so bad it kills immersion.
The writing would be decent if it didn't quickly become overly cliché.
Do choices matter? Not sure, I am definitely not going to find out with a second replay.
There are better games out there to waste your time on.

This is an amazing boardgame with deep strategy and engaging play style. The digital port is of excellent quality despite a few bugs in the UI and in the multiplayer mode. Highly recommended.

I love this game.
The strategy layer mechanics have been simplified a bit in respect to the more historical titles but there's so much stuff and variety!

I just immensely enjoy this game. The historical titles have all my respect but... this... is so much fun!

I really wanted to love this game (as I have loved every previous Fallout version).
It's pretty, and smooth, and colorful.
And so unbelievably *boring*.
