Played it to death, loved it, a must for series fans, Go buy the telltale borderlands game while you still can to fill in the blanks. Well worth waiting for Epic to give up exclusivity, Screw those guys

Lots of people comparing this to the XCOM series, and with good reason, very similar play-style. The story isn't up to much (Apart from Redburn) and some of the characters are annoying (Apart from Redburn, again), the differences comes in 3 forms that I really appreciate.

1) Shot averages - I fell like shots I make, that have a 50% chance, land about 50% of the time. Can't tell you how many times I played XCOM and missed 3 80% chances in a row and called shenanigans, but here it feels fair. Like there's genuine weight between taking risky shots that pay off, or miss and pay the price.
2) Balancing - You never feel over powered, you never get to the point the enemy doesn't pose a threat. You never get to the point you stick a sniper in the back with tons of perks that covers the whole field, but by the same measure you always feel like you have a chance even when the field is full of basic enemies.
3) Artificial intelligence - The AI never feels like its walking into your bullets for the sake of it, you can lay a perfect trap, only for the AI to start moving around it, not just through it and force all your shots to miss, but drop enemies on a flank and force you to change your direction.

Levels feel short, until you look at the clock and see half an hours gone by, class and mission types feel limited, until you remember it has the same number of options as vanilla XCOM. Just a blast to play and very tactical, most likely the type of game that would benefit from some DLC, like XCOM or a second outing, like Halo wars, but in its current state is a great time, recommend to fans of the series and strategy games.

Honestly this is a great return to form after the disappointment that was GOW4, great story, really well fleshed out characters, lots of multiplayer options, good side progression system, there's still that micro transaction market but it can be ignored and you get just as good stuff from grinding. Well reccomended for new and old players, second best entry in the series after GOW3.

Granted there is probably a very small window of people that want a game abouy shooting everything AND want a game about an emotional road trip, but if you're one of those people, this is the absolute business.
